I think it depends on the need of what we are sharing. Sometimes we need to write a lengthy comment but sometimes or most of the times a short one works.

I can understand if you make it lengthy for giving me detail insight and in that case I must be happy even if it's a lengthy one but what if the comment goes off topic.
I think we should not go off topic by studying unwanted lengthy comments. It's not needed.
