Unpopular opinion

I feel like the only person in the crypto space that thinks the idea of a $BTC ETF is a bad idea and is just a maxi narrative to pump the price.

If approved #Bitcoin will be then manipulated like they do gold and silver. Just saying…

Sort:

The positive is that it opens up a whole lot of money that hasn't been able or willing to deal with storage and keys. The negative is, as you say, paper bitcoin. The problem is there is already a ton of paper bitcoin out there. Will this grow it exponentially? No clue. That's the danger I guess.

It’s a whole lot of money that isn’t going to actually grow or build the true ecosystem that crypto was supposed to be building in the first place. We have lost that true money of the people narrative with Bitcoin.

Looking at votes and messages is not such an umpopular opinion ;-) At least here outside the maxi bubble. I agree with you on the "paper bitcoin" attack vector. Ultimately, Honey Badger will give a f*ck but short term will be painful.

Got a feeling it will be a sell the news kinda thing.

Yeah, aggresive dump until low 30's and then to infinite and beyond. We'll see. Whatever happens, every 10 minutes a block will advance. 😎

You are not alone once btc becomes etf, we would lose the decentralized wars.

Yep, but all the maxis and moonboys need their number go up.

Worst part maxis think banks and govt shutting down is win... in reality pegging their currency to USD and bitcoin is same as british ruling their nation.. new colonization in digital era.

Now they are wanting banks to hold their Bitcoin for them. That’s the issue now. I totally believe in bringing down the banks. I am old school cypher punk that way. I trade against the dollar using USDT or Hive/HBD but that’s just as a measurement. I generally then out my profits into $XMR or $LTC, or buy stuff for the farm.

well thousand of years of banking and imperalism is not dying to some bitcoin... doing what argentina did is suicide mission with technically turning socialism into USD colony. I don't buy the narrative of shutdown bank and govt.. thats inviting easy china or USA ruling in the nation..

Thats where we can agree to disagree. I am an anarchist and do not believe that anyone should have any control or say so in how I live. Banks have failed over and over through history. No it will not die out completely, but what we have is failing to say the least.

I'm always vehemently opposed to TradFi or the State having ANY involvement in BTC or crypto.

you're not the only one... I'm with ya on this.. been saying this ETF approval could make this bull run last cycle where we'll see illiquid coins or memes making peeps millionaire..

Crypto will sooner or later become like tradfi imo.

I am actually okay with it becoming more of a stable asset class. I have never been a memecoin person and feel that it actually gives our industry a bad name. But I get what you are saying. Only memecoin I mess with is DOGE, because I can actually use it.

Yea, I think stable asset with less volatility like we have now in market means > we won't see impulsive moves by Bitcoin anymore so = less chances to make life changing money.

DOGE is always gonna be king of memecoins.

Yep, maxis are just clueless… Thanks to the begging to bring in Wall Street, this time will be different… But whatever, I’ll trade it both ways and put my money into chickens and bullets, 😂

Many people feel the same about the Etf as Bitcoin is a voice against the centralized control and manipulation.

It used to be, but now Wall Street has it. They don’t have $HIVE and $XMR

The wall street is a giant and can lead anything up or low.

No the problem is that allot of the space moves with bitcoin, just slightly different, we need truly decentralized projects to decouple from the rest. But a dude can dream.

Yep if you like being manipulated and controlled… For me, I’ll take the one they hate and keep my #privacy as a #storeofvalue and that is $XMR. $HIVE is the engine that gets me more of that. Well I like $LTC too, especially now with the privacy features.

Aren't ETFs controlled by the financial institutions we complain about? Why would we want to continue doing business with these people?

Exactly... In the old days, Bitcoiners were all like 'DOWN WITH THE BANKS AND INSTITUTIONS' now it's all like, PlEasE MisTeR WaLl StReEt tAkE aLl My MoNeY aNd PuMp Me BaGs
