I honestly have no problems with people using the tags regardless if they use the front end. The main idea is to laser focus rewards to those who are really part of the community and avoid hemorrhaging rewards to posts that may or may not be related.

For sure, and there are SEO benefits to it as well which helps get more traffic for these topics. In the end, it's mostly about keeping the rewards in the hands who deserve it most.
