Doing things for profit, maximizing profits will cause wounds in society that are difficult to heal. Companies exist to make profits, but priority should be people, human health, and society. For this, if necessary, states should pass laws and be deterrents.
Governments are incompetent at most things - even the things at the core of their reason to exist.
