Dogecoin bad for crypto?

I will start off with a statement I posted in another channel today:

"#Doge is a great example of how irresponsibility paired with greed can ruin the reputation of an entire industry."

I believe that coins with no real value, other than being the focus of the latest hype, can only hurt the worldwide recognition of cryptocurrencies, especially because the media is always going to use exactly those coins to ridicule the whole ecosystem. There are so many great coins with an actual use-case, hive for instance, that it is by no means nescessary to invest one's money into a joke. That is not only foolish, but also irresponsible. Many people are spending hours upon hours trying to make cryptocurrency work, while others ruin it, just to satisfy their own greed. Speaking of greed, I believe many have and will also lose a lot of money on the coin in the long run. Also, it is my opinion that prominent celebrities should lead by example here and not proclaim themselves as the dogefather and push the mania even further. Maybe I am wrong in the long run and doge will acutally establish itself as a great means of payment, I mean after all it's still better than fiat, but somehow I doubt it.

What do you think about DOGE? Leave me a comment
