RE: LeoThread 2024-07-06 13:01

This is a #threadcast for my ongoing D&D session. Everyone is welcome to join and check out how it goes. Also feel free to talk D&D stuff whether or not it's related to my adventure

Sort:

Great addition to a threadcast on our platform.

May start rolling dice to decide my thread aktivity..

hehehe that's the way

Is this it?

hahah yea!
we don't have a cat though... or at least I dont think we do...

Check the cabinets.

Well going to be tough to get this one to the top.

Going to have to turn it into a tutorial.

Enjoy your adventure! I only played an introduction, wasn't really a game for me at that time.

We get a play-by-play.

What a cool idea.

How long do these games usually last? What determines the winner?

Depends what you are considering "the game". If it's a session, they usually go for a few hours... on my group we have 3 hour sessions but I have played sessions that were 4 or even 5.

May sound like a lot but you actually get very little done depending on the adventure.

The actual adventure can last as long as the Dungeon Master (the person who "runs" the game) desires. There are some adventures called one-shots that are designed to last a single session, and there are also bigger campaigns that go on indefinitely. We have been playing this adventure for 4 years I think

Seems like a lot of time for going nowhere. LOL

yea lol

its frustrating sometimes

LOL then why do you play it?

haha most of the times it's fun

like today we are fighting a big combat and those are always fun

If you are all on the same team, who the heck are you combating?

You can ask the #leoai 🤣🤣🤣

Not yet. But if he keeps answering, that will be part of #leoai.

And as for "who is the winner" well that concept is very relative.... all players are on the same team so in theory if we make it to end alive we all win hahha

But all sorts of stuff can happen during the game and maybe some people will acomplish more than others depending on how they designed their characters

All on the same team? Then who are you playing?

Is it a competitive contest?

Wow!!! Its a nice stuff 😊😁😊, greetings to you sir and welcome to the threadcast family 🥂🥂🥂🥰🙏🏽

thanks, my friend!

Are you a player of the game?

I not a gamer, but am a player 🤣🤣🤣 lol

Yeah. That is what the women all say.

But am not a woman 😂😂😂.

They say that about you.

HAhah, woman woman woman 🤔🤔🤔..

Well, the druid got away but that was still a win for our team. We saved the baby in the end and now we will proceed with our adventures.... however that will have to wait until next week

I forgot to ask, did you play online? If so, I believe it is easier to save where you left off, right?

Yup, we play online. Next week I will post some screenshots of what it looks like from the point of view of the players

It will be much better and cool for us to have a better idea.

For what it is worth, from Groq:

A fantastic question!

Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a tabletop role-playing game (RPG) where players create characters and embark on adventures set in a fantasy world. It's a collaborative storytelling experience that combines imagination, strategy, and social interaction.

Here's a breakdown of the game:

Gameplay:

  1. Character creation: Players create their characters, choosing their race, class, abilities, and equipment. Each character has unique traits, skills, and strengths.
  2. Storytelling: The game is led by a Dungeon Master (DM), who creates a narrative, sets challenges, and controls non-player characters (NPCs). The DM describes the scene, and players describe their characters' actions.
  3. Rolling dice: Players roll polyhedral dice to determine the outcomes of their actions, such as combat, skill checks, or ability tests. The dice rolls are used to resolve conflicts, determine success or failure, and add an element of chance to the game.
  4. Exploration and combat: Players explore a fantasy world, solve puzzles, and engage in combat with monsters, NPCs, or other players. Combat is a tactical aspect of the game, where players use their abilities, spells, and equipment to defeat enemies.

Core elements:

  1. Imagination: D&D encourages creative thinking, problem-solving, and storytelling.
  2. Collaboration: Players work together, sharing ideas and strategies to overcome challenges.
  3. Role-playing: Players adopt their characters' personalities, motivations, and backstories, adding depth to the game.
  4. Strategy: Players must consider their characters' abilities, equipment, and positioning to succeed in combat and challenges.

Types of D&D:

  1. Tabletop: The traditional, in-person version of the game, played around a table with physical materials.
  2. Digital: Online versions of the game, such as video games, virtual tabletops, or online platforms.
  3. Homebrew: Custom-made campaigns, rules, or settings created by players or DMs.

Why play D&D?

  1. Social bonding: D&D fosters social connections, teamwork, and communication.
  2. Creative expression: Players can express themselves through their characters, stories, and role-playing.
  3. Problem-solving: The game encourages critical thinking, strategic planning, and creative problem-solving.
  4. Fun and entertainment: D&D is an engaging, immersive, and often hilarious experience.

Task, have you ever played D&D?

No I have not. Dont even know how the game works.

I've never played either but I think it's cool despite not knowing the rules.

It is amazing what @tokenizedsociety showed us yesterday. He also gave us a great way to use threadcasts.

Yes, it's true, things are flowing and we are seeing new ways of making a threadcast.

That's a good breakdown of the game basics

Ok, I managed to shake off the blindness (yeah, you can do that on D&D LOL)

When I recovered my sight, the druid was gone so I'm now chasing her

Lea-anne was the reason my character was introduced to the story. I was sent by her father to find her whereabouts.

What is D&D?

it stands for Dungeons and Dragons. Probably the most famous tabletop rpg

Is this an online #game or is it something played in person?

Originally D&D was played in person but nowadays is getting more and more common to play it online. That's how I do it. My group has players from Brazil, Canada, US and Sweden so online is the way to go

Ah so you do it online? When did that start to take off?

I believe the pandemic really gave the online format a boost

Yeah I can see that. It really boosted #technology in general.

By the way, i am doing a chat with Claude on transhumanism that I will post in the technology threadcast.

How did you get into D&D?

It was the nerdiest way possible hahah

I met a guy playing Minecraft and after some time he invited me to play D&D with his group. Never stopped

How long ago was that?

Around 4 years

What type of #game is this?

It's a tabletop roleplaying game. Basically you pick a character and roll dice to determine the outcome of your actions. There are some rules for character building and combat but you can try to do pretty much anything you can imagine.

So you have others over to play with you? It is in person?

First of all, let me introduce the party. We are all level 9

  • Sir Lohent (me) - Half-elf Paladin
  • Gragor - Dragonborn Paladin
  • Deter - Half-elf Monk
  • Breena - Gnome Druid
  • Star - Tabaxi Ranger
  • Ivy (Star's twin) - Tabaxi Ranger
  • Lea-anne - Human Fighter
  • Derevan - Hal-Drow Cleric
  • Ardor - Human Wizard

What does level 9 mean?

On D&D, characters levels go from 1 to a maximum of 20 so 9 is just about half-way to maximum power.

We play on a "milestone" progression mode, meaning we level up by completing relevant pieces of the adventure such as finishing an important quest or defeating a very powerful enemy. In this mode, progression is quite slow and it can take years to get to level 9 (assuming you start from level 1)

How long ago did you start?

THis adventure started I think 4 years ago... we take a few weeks break now and then and we complete a relevant part of the adventure so I would say we have had around 3 years of actual game play

Note that this adventure takes place in the realm of Ekwado, which is a world that was created and has been developed by our DM for 40 years, give or take, so a lot of stuff is customized to our adventure

The adventure starts as Sir Lohent (me), high captain of the Draphansian Royal Paladins, is tasked with a mission to investigate the lair of the blue dragon Sterbus, because it it's rumored that a potential conclave of evil dragons is gathering and must be stopped

Sir Lohent gathers a group of adventurers to go investigate the place. Right at the beginning of the journey, our group was ambushed by many ogers, dark elves and other monsters

We are now on round 2 of what is definitely going to be a big combat.

A huge oger just tried to attack me but it only rolled a 14, against my 22 armor class, meaning it missed.

On my turn, I took a swing at the oger that missed me. He wasnt so lucky and I hit it with my Holy Avenger sword, killing it with one hit.

There is a wagon on the battlefield. We can hear a baby crying from inside. We can't reach it yet because there are too many enemies on the way. We will need to clear out this combat before we can do anything about the wagon

A dark figure emerged from the wagon holding the baby. But then it change its mind and got back in....

We have no idea whether they are friend or foe... we will have to find out

We are doing quite well on this combat but there are many enemies. I am directly fighting an oger and a dark elf ranger but there are other archers nearby who will probably take a chance at me

One of enemies swinged his sword twice against me, but missed both times. It looks like luck is on my side today. Third round without taking any damage

Not all sessions are "thrilling" like this one... somtimes there is very little combat and a lot of talking, or roleplaying as we call it. Some people don't like that but it's part of the game. It's just as important as combat for an immersive experience, in my opinion

Now the person wearing dark robes decided to finally leave the wagon taking the baby. It's good that they are taking the baby away from the fight but on the other hand we don't know what are their intentios

Ardor, our wizard, just casted a fireball. That's his signature move. Fun stuff!

I think I will also drop some rule definitions, spell descriptions and what not here and there. Might help to train the AI...

Ardor's fireball was devastating! It instantly took out 5 enemies and wouinded another 2. Great move by our wizard!

Fireball

  • LEVEL: 3rd
  • CASTING TIME: 1 Action
  • RANGE/AREA: 150 ft (20 ft )
  • COMPONENTS: V, S, M * (a tiny ball of bat guano and sulfur)
  • DURATION: Instantaneous
  • SCHOOL: Evocation
  • ATTACK/SAVE: DEX Save
  • DAMAGE/EFFECT: Fire

A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 8d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.

An oger tried to attack me again and missed yet again. My god must be protecting me today

During combat, characters get the chance to move, do an Action and a Bonus Action.
Actions are things like attacking, trying to escape and casting spells, although some spells can be casted as Bonus Action

Our fighter send her dog to help me out fight the two guys in front of me. That's one fierce little doggo

The misterious figure appearead again. This time we could see it's a woman. SHe summoned a big spider that is apparently going to attack us. Shit

Got attacked again. Was able to defend myself again. Really good day for Sir Lohent, the Paladin

D&D ???? dick&dick ??? eheheheh :D

CLose! Dungeons and Dicks! It's a BDSM thing... LOL

ohhhh that is my regular search on pornhub LOLOLOL dungeons and dicks I meant! eehehhe

I swung my sword at an oger and cut its head off. My second kill of the day!

Such a violent game.

Do you not believe in peace and love?

hahah yea, my character is actually a Paladin who believes in peace and love... but he is also a soldier and will fight back when provoked

Shit it's getting weird! The woman who was holding the baby touched a tree and apparently merged with it.... not sure what to expect

Are you still talking about the game or did you get some bad booze?

Well those are not mutually exclusive LOL

Do you drink while playing? LOL

of course! this thing lasts 3 hours! last time I went 3 hours without a drink I was like 9

The strange woman is casting a spell on me... that's not good...

So, the spell created some sort of a vine that pulled me towards her... not sure what happens next but we will find out

Ogers are all gone.... but I'm all tied up waiting to see what will happen

I got lucky... the spell just pulled me closer to the woman. But on her turn she might attack me

A friend came to help me fight this weird druid-woman. Thank you Lea-anne

Damn, I've been blinded

One word: Dragonlance

Congrats. Over 100 comments on the D&D session. A fine addition to Leo.
