What's up plebs?
Today I have a piece I got a few days ago...A piece that got me really excited. First, because it's one of those monetary oddities I have talked about in the past. Talking is fun, but owning is even better! And this one is peculiar since it features a bizarre denomination, as you can see in the post title. But more on that later.
The second reason this piece got me so excited is because I think I killed it price wise, as I paid a price of about 25 euros for it while all eBay "buy it now" listings appear to be for 40+ $, the majority over 50+. 😁
So, without further ado...
Hey, don't hurry with the coin yet. This beauty deserves a proper unboxing!
Ok let's open the beautiful blue box
Sweet, comes with a COA and everything. As someone that mostly gets cheap old silver, it feels nice to have a more premium experience for a change 😁
Among other things, the COA informs is that we have a 22.2 g coin of 0.900 purity. Not bad!
Ok, time to see the actual coin :D
So.. we have a 6.55957 Francs coin!
A number that may sound strange first but makes absolute sense as this coin commemorates the move from Francs to Euro. And 6.55957 Francs was the exchange ratio for 1 euro back in 1999.
The text around gives us the exchange rates of some other European countries back in 1999

Here we also have the € symbol, 11 times representing the 11 countries that had initially joined the euro zone in 1999. Fyi, they were Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.

Bummer, nothing. I would expect a cool engraving or something but no. What a missed opportunity...
And that my fellow plebs concludes today's coin. A really beautiful piece that I got for a killer price.
I am not the hugest fan of the euro but I love this one 😄

Unusual coin. The only thing missing is the dollar to euro exchange rate. I would put it instead of the Luxembourg currency rate.

Nice coin and great purchase. It was cheaper than what you would see elsewhere and you also got the certificate along with it. Do most silver not come with that paper?
