Take the Risk or Lose the Chance - My Introduction To Community

in LeoFinance4 years ago

Hello community, this is the future and I am glad to be an early user. I would like everyone out there to gain a little motivation here today as you may stumble upon this post. This post will be pretty brief but enough for you to get motivaed. I hope you enjoy, and thanks for reading.

Quick Background Info

For starters, I am 20 years old and have made been making a lot of "grown-up" decisions since the age of 16. Growing up all I ever knew is that I wanted to be rich. I come from a well-rounded middle-class family but knew that there was more to life than just working and paying bills. I wanted the finer things in life, and the expensive lifestyle only one can dream of. At the age 16, I decided to get a job at Panda Express to obtain things my parents wouldn't want to waste their money on. Around this time I was super excited about working to make money and wanted to work as much as possible to become "rich". At the same time I was working I decided to learn how to invest my money and build credit. I kept the mentality to save up all my money and be frugal as possible to invest as much as possible. I started to trade stocks, crypto, and play in the forex market as well. Fast-forwarding to 2 years of juggling being a Jr Olympic track athlete, fast food worker, high school student, investing, and studying the market it finally paid off.

My Story

I hope if you’re reading this that you can take something out of this and learn your worth or just even be motivated/eye-opened. My first ever job I worked at Chuck E Cheese and only worked there for a week an a half! I worked my ass off like a fucking slave for that week and felt/was treated like a fucking peasant. Leaving 3 a.m vacuuming floors and using a fork to scrape cake off the floor at the end of the day. For only $7.25 an hour! I was fed up and walked out, because they told to get on my hands and knees and clean the floor and I told the manager no will not and didn’t come back. I told myself not to work again unless it’s at least $10 an hour. That’s where I worked at Panda Express, I made some good friends/memories there and even loved the job. After a while working drive-thru killed me. The heels of my feet would hurt so bad that I had to put tissue in the heel of my shoes to stop them from feeling like they were bleeding. I was mentally and physically drained from running back and forth thru drive-thru trying to keep the time down to a certain time and really became one of the best workers up there and was loved up there. The customers there really messed it up for me, the long drive-thru lines and dinging in my ear every 5 seconds from it being so busy gave me PTSD. Juggling work, school, and running track all at the same time was super stressful. At nights I would just wanna hang myself because I was so tired. The money I was getting was the most I’ve ever gotten and made me feel like there was no other better-paying job than that one. Deep down inside I wanted more and realized that if you work every day you‘ll never be rich. I know there’s more to life than just working to pay bills and dying. It’s so sad that people get caught up in the system and never really get to enjoy the finer things in life. I’m not saying I have it bad and know there are people who have it a million times worst but I’m just sharing my story. I made what took me almost a year to make at panda in a single day of trading. If you made it to the end god bless you and hope you one day can obtain the skills that I got. This is just the beginning and I wish everyone the best of luck.

I worked myself to exhaustion daily as a younger Nurse more than 15 years ago, the pay was good but I also have two little boys to raise as well.

Hello @tw3! This is @traciyork from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) curation team. We noticed you shared your first post here on Hive and introduced yourself to the community - congratulations and welcome! You didn't mention how you happened to find our blockchain home - did an established Hive member tell you about it? If so, be sure to tag them so they know you're part of the Hive community now.

Speaking of community, we have many different ones here on the blockchain, devoted to all kinds of interests. Here's a link so you can check them all out - Hive Communities.

Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide should be helpful to you, as it is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works. For instance, there's a post in the collection called 3 things Newbies should do in their first week on Hive that you might find helpful.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.

If you have questions, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server and we'll do our best to answer them, and again welcome to Hive!

Oh and one last thing - when you have a moment, could you mention Hive (like, just the word is fine) in the bio of one of your social media accounts (YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram would work), then tag me to check it out? Just making sure it's really you behind this account and not someone else trying to profit off your awesome content. Thanks! :)
