Introduction to the CISSP

in LeoFinance3 years ago

The CISSP or Certified Information Systems Security Professional is an independent information security certification. The certification is granted by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, or (ISC)2. This group has been described as the "world's largest IT security organization". Currently, about one hundred fifty-two thousand six hundred thirty-two members of the (ISC)2 hold CISSP certification with that number slowly growing. This is probably one of the most important certifications you can get in the field of information security. Since May 2020, the United Kingdom National Academic Recognition Information Centre called the CISSP qualification a Level 7 award, which gives it the same level of prestige & recognition as a cybersecurity Masters degree in that country. The CISSP was first established in 1994 and has been growing in recognition ever since.

To get CISSP certified, you need to complete an exam. Before you have a chance to take the exam, you must have a minimum of five years of cumulative paid work experience in two or more of the eight domains of the CISSP CBK - four years if you have a four-year college degree or regional equivalent in terms of education. These eight domains are security and risk management, asset security, security architecture & engineering, communication & network security, identity & access management, security assessment & testing, security operations, and software development security. If you can master these domains and get all of the necessary work experience, you can have a certificate that is the equivalent of a Masters Degree in the Computer Science and technical fields! As I continue my own studying for the CISSP so I can pass the exam, I will be able to add more information that can help others pass the test and become a certified computer security expert!
