The political echo chamber problem isn’t solely a Right-wing issue. Before a major ownership change at a dominant platform, right-leaning users built alternative social networks out of necessity after being banned from mainstream sites

After that ownership change, left-leaning users set up alternative platforms not because they were banned, but because they didn’t want to engage with the Right, leaving the dominant platform voluntarily

This refusal to engage creates self-made echo chambers that can spiral into extremism: dangerous falsehoods spread and amplify, fueling fear and panic and enabling conditions that justify violence

Many on the Left blame their extremism on the Right’s, yet that view is shaped by the echo chambers they’ve voluntarily locked themselves into

Right-wing echo chambers are also a problem, but they often arise as a reaction to left-wing intolerance

Turning the dominant platform into a true marketplace of ideas was expected to solve the echo chamber issue. It didn’t, because one side actively self-silos. No clear solution is apparent — any thoughts?
