Get Rich Quick - a really interesting episode of "Money, Explained" on Netflix

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Recently, I have been trying to cut down on the number of TV series with tons of episodes and seasons that I watch, and instead, I try to watch things that will actually make me think and learn. As a result, I decided to not stream The Morning Show on Apple+, but instead, I started to watch several of the different episodes in the Explained series on Netflix. To be honest, it has actually been an interesting ride so far, and it is still lasting.

The first series that I decided to watch was Money, Explained, and the first episode in this series is called "Get Rich Quick." I have since then watched the rest of the episodes as well, and I might write about those later, but currently, I can easily say that the first episode is the one I consider to be the most interesting of them all.

Get Rich Quick - an international concept!

The first episode dealt with how we all want to get rich quick, and how it is fooling us into making stupid decisions that often drain us of all our wealth and money. It is bringing forth lots of examples, and it is so easy to recognize yourself in the stories of the episode. It can also get quite close because it brings forth the Bitconnect scam (known in the crypto-world) and it also tells about OneCoin, a project that was internationally known as a scam, but people still invested their life savings in the project.

Why do people do such things, even though they know that it is dangerous and probably even stupid? What causes this? The psychology behind such discussions is also at debate in this episode, and to be honest, I really loved it!

Why was the first episode the best?

In the other episodes of this program, we could hear about Retirement, Student Loans, Gambling, and Credit Cards, and most of these are very much based on the American culture. The credit cards is gaining more and more space worldwide, but still, these felt very American in the way they were discussed, and they are first of all targeting an American audience. I still learned quite a lot from those as well, but it cannot be compared to the concept of getting rich quickly which can be found all across the globe!

While people rush into Ponzi scheme because they think they can get money quick,at the end of the day, they end up loosing everything and still borrow to eat. Is better to forget the mind set of getting money quick and focus on our daily work. It give relax profit than getting money quick

Jumping into ponzi schemes is easy and tempting, but sometimes it can be challenging differing something that is really promising with a real concept from the ponzi, thus creating challenges. ANd sometimes real concepts are called ponzis as well, but I agree - overall, it is tempting and stupid to join in on ponzi schemes!

You have say it all
