McDonald's now (It's a novelty for me since I haven't been there for a thousand years 🤣 ) operates through a vertical screen where you order the menu. The restrooms require a password that you get on the purchase ticket.
Something makes me think that the next modernization will include AI, although I still prefer the human treatment (at least it is still there to pick up the order).

Totally with you though, no matter how sleek the tech gets, that tiny human interaction at the pickup counter still hits different.
