Imo I think concerns over Proof-of-Work, ecology, and the scam in crypto are justified, and some level of regulation desirable in places that make deserve it, but an outright ban of all crypto-related technology seems a bit exaggerated and an abuse of authority. Part of the idea behind crypto is an emancipation from authority, and while I think a better perspective would be on the means of production (rather than the medium of exchange, such as the nature of currency or of the markets), over-regulation or sweeping bans are a clear antithesis to that.
