In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, i now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.
Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.
This week the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "Counterspell". As the name suggests, all monsters taking part in the battle automatically start with the "reflect" ability.
This ruleset, as the name suggests, allows monsters that recieve damage from magic attack, to rerurn damage to the attacking monster.
Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle! After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, i finally came across the ruleset i was waiting for:
Reflect magic can open up a brand new way of playing.... Rather than relying on a monsters own ability to attack, you can (in theory) use a monster with high health and zero attack points of its own and still win the match.
As you can probably guess, this type of play usually isnt my style. Im definitely more of an attack player than a sit back and defend.
Taking all these rulesets in to consideration, I actually decided that for this specific battle, i would avoid all magic attacks completely and concentrate on melee monsters as my main form of attack
For me, there is no better summoner to use with the "little monsters" ruleset than the tried and trusted Daria Dragonscale. Combining the dragon summoner with the EARTH splinter, gives several impressive monsters that really do pack-a-punch....

Once the teams are revealed, i always have a quick look at my opponents set up, before hitting rumble. I like to playout in my head how i think the battle will unfold. I try and predict what i think the outcome may be, and judge how well my opponents have set up thier team.
Straight off the bat, I noticed that both myself and @foxconnmars both think in a similar fashion when it comes to building a team for this ruleset match. Our monsters are evenly match with the exact same lvl summoner and splinter chosen for battle.
We both picked our Manticores, Vultures and firespitter, a very interesting battle was clearly about to unfold.
My opponent had opted for a better tank than my team, but thisbturned out to be my saving grace. His vultures took the bate and attacked, leaving my vulture and Venari Scout to take out his dangerous fiendish harpy early on. Its a pretty good match up and the strategy is definitely worth a second look.
I believe pairing my Daria Dragonscale with my Earth splinter a good shout, but what do you think?? Was i right? Would you have picked a different team/combonation? If so let me knownin the comments below.
