In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, i now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.
Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.
This week, the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "GOING THE DISTANCE". As the name suggests, ONLY monsters with ranged attacks can take part in the battle!
This ruleset, can completely flip a battle on its head! Conventional battle plans go straight out the window, it also creates a whole new style of play. Unless your monster has the "close range" ability, or is paired with a melee attack, if it finds its in the tank postion, the monster is a sitting duck....
Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle! After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, i finally came across the ruleset i was waiting for:

So what i did have to do, was use my alt, gold foil, account @TEAM-SPIRIT and find the ruleset there:
Not only was it an alt account used, the only time the ruleset appeared was when i was completing a guild brawl....
But doing what #splinterlands does best, they threw a spanner in the works by adding an additional ruleset alongside GOING THE DISTANCE just to mess with my mind and really get me thinking.
Taking these rulesets in to consideration and the summoner choices available to me, I actually decided that for this specific battle, with these specific ruleset, I would pick my tried and tested LVL2 GF SCARRED LLAMA to hopefully use its special abilities should I get down to just one remaining monster. Plus the EARTH splinter has some decent even mana, ranged attack monsters i can best utalise.
As you can see, its not a bed line up!! Ive managed to fill all the slots available and use up almost all the mana points available for this battle.

Once the two teams are revealed, I always have a quick look at my opponents set up, before hitting rumble. I like to playout in my head how i think the battle will unfold. I try and predict what i think the outcome may be, and judge how well my opponents have set up thier team.
So can my lvl 2 GF summoner take out my opponents lvl 3 summoner?? Its going to be tough.... They definitely have some decent monsters out on display, especially in the last slot, but lets hit rumble and see how this plays out!!
The stage was set, two strong summoners, with great teams are sure to give a great battle.
That escalated quickly.... I was suprisee how fast my team made short work of my opponents line-up. Looks like this battle could benover as soon as it started. Lets see if they have a small revival in the latter rounds.
Round two carried off where round one ended..... Total attack from my team.
As i mentioned above earlier, once a ranged attack monster finds itself in the tank position, if itnlacks close range/melee attacks it becomes a sitting duck! This battle surely must be over in the next round? Perhaps his last monster, with its "last stand" ability can pull a blinder out and turn the tables.
Turns out it was a complete and utter blowout!
I checked using the SPLINTERTOOL page, the battle shows me as having a 100% of pulling of a win.

Nice approach using the LLama, never tried it on this rule set. I usually go with Selenia.
Unfortunately i dont have that card on that account. Selenia would have been a great option for that rule set.
Ive used Scarred Llama with my cornealus in the final position a few times.... It often eins battles just because its heal+last stand makes it "almost" impossible to kill. It usually just out lasts my opponents. Lol
And that's really all it takes, outlast the enemy!
