In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, I now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.
Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.
This week, the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "MELEE MAYHEM". As the name suggests, Melee monsters can now attack from any position. Never mind "opportunity" or " snipe", any monster with the Melee ability will target the opposition monster in the Tank position.
This ruleset, can completely flip a battle on its head! Conventional battle plans go straight out the window, it also creates a whole new style of play. With the correct selection, it is possible to field a suprisingly deadly team, and have some of the games biggest hitters do some serious damage.
Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle!
After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, I finally came across the ruleset I was waiting for:
But doing what #splinterlands does best, they threw a spanner in the works by adding additional rulesets alongside MELEE MAYHEM, just to mess with my mind and really get me thinking.
Taking these rulesets into consideration, and with the limited number of summoner choices available to me, I actually decided that for this specific battle, with these specific ruleset, I would pick my tried and tested LVL 5 ALRIC STORMBRINGER. With a wider summoner selection, i may have gone for my lvl5 Daria Dragonscale, but ALRIC is a perfectly acceptable choice for this ruleset and ill explain why below.
As you can see, its not a bad line up!??! Ive managed to fill all the slots available and use up all of the mana points available for this battle.
When ever I come across the "Melee Mayhem" ruleset, my go to splinter is more often than not, the DRAGON splinter paired with Daria Dragonscale and the earth splinter. The earth splinter has a few good melee monsters and more than enough punching power to build a decent fighting deck. Without this choice available, I went back to what I know and trust, my magic attack monsters and a very decent tank in my lvl3 KRAKEN

Once the two teams are revealed, I always have a quick look at my opponents set up, before hitting rumble. I like to playout in my head how I think the battle will unfold. I try and predict what I think the outcome may be, and judge how well my opponents have set up thier team. With the high mana and specific rulesets, I think ive done quite well and built a very competitive team....
My opponents choice of summoner has been wisely chosen. My strong magic attack will now have to contend with any shielding my opponents monsters may have, thanks to the "void armour" buff given by their lvl2 Grandmaster Rathe.
So can my lvl 5 summoner take out my opponents lvl 2 LEGENDARY summoner?? Its going to be tough.... They definitely have some decent monsters out on display. The void armour could cause me a few problems paird with his "brightwing's" repair abilities. My monster buffs - 2X Demoralise and Silence should drastically weaken his attacks. With that said im sure its going to be a challenging battle. Lets hit rumble and see how this plays out!!
The stage was set, two strong summoners, with very different approaches, these teams are sure to give a great battle.

It left my opponent a little short in the offensive department!! So can my offence over come his defence? Only one way to find out!!
Round two carried off where round one ended..... My superior speed and magic attacks are ripping through his lineup. My monsters are holding their own and thanks to Melee Mayhem, my Coastal Sentry and her double strike is causing some serious damage.
My magic attacks are causing havoc, added to that the melee attacks from my front end and this battle surely wont last much longer. The KRAKEN has been awakened!! His rage makes his attack incredibly deadly... The speed of my Phantom takes out the shields and the kraken finishes them off....
At this stage my superior numbers and speed had this battle in the bag. It would take no time at all to grind down his remainingmonsters, with their defensive strategy found somewhat wanting, but my strong attacks and superior numbers now in complete control, I would end this battle pretty soon, im sure of it.
As I figured, it was just delaying the inevitable.... Without having lost a single monster in battle yet, there is absolutely NO way back from this for my opponent. This surely must be over in this round?
VICTORY!!!..... If in doubt come out all guns blazing..... my opponents team stood very little chance. Once i had broken through his tank, the rest of the team fell pretty quickly.
Turns out it was a complete and utter blowout in the end! Im pretty chuffed with how that played out.... it couldnt have gone any better i dont think??
Ultimately, the deciding factor in this battle was that i did NOT use the ruleset Melee Mayhem.... Sometimes, choosing to not use a particular ruleset is as beneficial to the outcome as choosing to incorporate it in to a lineup.
I checked using the SPLINTERTOOL page, the battle shows me as having a 100% of pulling of the win.
