In the early days of the original platform, I often discussed early investment means putting money and work in to a project in order to profit and benefit from growth, but people were just real busy policing rewards, discussing rewards, etc.
You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. The heaviest stakeholders on the platform are not hungry and seem satisfied with the status quo, or fearful of change and/or visibility. Why not, it's been a very enriching project. I don't blame them a bit for not wanting to rock the boat.
However, it leaves the hungry and ambitious to determine how to continue to grow their own leverage, stake and projects.

That is true.
The question is whether anything can stay the same long term. As you said, there are others who are disruptors. They are the ones who put their backs to work if you will.
In the end, with something that is permissionless, I believe things end up changing. This is unavoidable.
