Publish0x vs LeoFinance: Why I prefer LeoFinance

Hello everyone, and welcome to another article.
In my previous article, I did a comparison between centralized platforms, and gave decentralized alternatives to some of them.
This article is something like those ones, however it is going to be a detailed comparison between these two publishing platforms.

I used to write extensively on Publish0x, but their algorithm pretty much became trash and their community is essentially non-existent. It's also centralized, so using some swear words in your article could get you banned.

I'm now here on LeoFinance, and I'm happy to say it's much better!

Now let's get to the comparison!

What is Publish0x?

As I said in the intro, Publish0x is a centralized publishing platform where writers can earn an incentive for pushing out blog posts. The site does not have its own token, so it is token agnostic, and pays out in either ETH, FARM or AMPL as at the time of writing this article. Payouts have also included HYDRO, BAT, LRC, DAI and even BOUNTY at some point, so a lot of tokens have passed through Publish0x.
Since Publish0x uses Ethereum based smart contracts for payouts, only ERC-20 tokens can be integrated into the website for tipping.
Writers are paid in "tips" from readers. Both writers and readers receive a tip when the reader sends one. And the tips come from a tip pool provided by Publish0x themselves.

What is LeoFinance?
leofinance
Leofinance is a decentralized publishing platform built on top of Hive. Everyone has heard about the infamous fork from Steem to Hive, so LeoFinance is kind of an extension of Hive at the very basic form. It is similar to Publish0x in that the readers do not provide the money paid to writers from their pockets, and in the fact that both readers and writers can earn from the site at the same time. However, the similarities end there as we are about to see.

How Publish0x differs from Leofinance

  1. Decentralization: LeoFinance is decentralized and does not have a central governing body. The platform is built (and runs autonomously) on the Hive blockchain, which means there is no one person controlling it.
Publish0x however has a very centralized system, where even payouts are done manually by a team of people.
Because Publish0x is so centralized, there is a loss of freedom in many aspects. For instance, there is a certain way you cannot talk on the platform or you might risk an IP ban. In addition, who knows what they're doing with your data. They log IPs to ensure that no one creates multiple accounts, and don't allow much freedom when a VPN is used. In addition, they also take forever to pay out since it's all done manually. LeoFinance is better in every aspect here. I've seen some rather vulgar heavy posts on this platform, and I use the site freely with a VPN. In addition, payouts are also decentralized, so I can always remove my earnings instead of waiting for Monday every single time I want to do that.

  2. Networks
Publish0x is built on the Ethereum blockchain, and about 2 years ago, that wasn't such a bad thing, as fees were quite low. Fastforward to today, and you can't even withdraw your earnings. And even if you manage to do that, you can't use them because they're usually not worth the gas fee.
The case is different on LeoFinance. The Hive blockchain doesn't have high fees, and you can even swap your LEO to bLEO and enjoy even lower fees on BSC. Win win.

  3. Community
The LeoFinance community is pretty tight, and they're truly here for the content. On publish0x, you see a money driven community rather than an actually passionate one. In addition, most people over there can get pretty abusive if you don't agree with their terms. (I had a troll back when I still posted there, who followed me and insulted me on every single post once he found out I was an immigrant. No one did anything about it for a long time even though I repeatedly reported the issue.)
I very much prefer the community here than the one on Publish0x.

Safe to say that I prefer LeoFinance over Publish0x! Which one do you prefer, and why? Let me know down in the comments below!
