While many people would like a better system, the will to actually change is far less motivated.
And why is that? The rich people are small compared to the poor. If the poor majority would start to rise against the current system, then I am sure that they could very quickly change it.
Because people don't want to take responsibility for their experience, they want it to be catered. People are risk averse, including in their decision making - most prefer to have someone else to blame than themselves.
