I'm impressed to learn that curators handpick the contents shared on the curator's pick section.
I am wondering however, how do someone earn such a spot?

This is just a leofinance.io feature.
I sound like a broken record, but curators earned the position by showing that they're here to add value.
They are now tasked with finding content that does the same.
Create good content, put yourself out there by commenting on other popular blogs and you will get noticed by curators.
