Who wants to travel back in time with a DeLorean?

Many know the movies and the time machine that took Doc and Marty to different eras. This car was created by the mind of John DeLorean

John DeLorean went to work on an ethical, comfortable and affordable sports car for $ 12,000 at the time, hence the name 12 after the initials DeLorean Motor Company, although the final price ended up going up to 25,000.

Mechanically, the engine was going to be a Wankel-type rotary, but the 849cc V6 PRV from Peugeot, Renault and Volvo was - more efficient, although in a recommended rear design But the project was delayed for years, its CV remained at 130 CV after mechanical adaptation to US homologation - only the power for its 1230 kilos...

How this car appeared in the movie

Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis thought of making a movie based on an idea. What they were not expecting is having to invent a future in 2015.

Marty McFly was to be a videotape pirate and the time machine, a soda vending machine that would run Coca-Cola. Fortunately, the script was revised and a car was used, which made the film much more dignified in today's eyes.

The first Marty was an actor was Eric Stoltz, but he was replaced by Michael J. At that time Michael J Fox, slept three or four hours every night to combine his role in the television comedies that he was filming.

And the Delorean?

For scripting purposes, Gale and Zemeckis turn to the DeLorean DMC-12, a sports car manufactured 1981 and 1982 - the last units were sold in 1983-. However, despite the refined appearance of its lines, redesigned from the prototype created between 1976 and 1980 - special emphasis was placed on the fact that it had to be in the air.

To build the time machine, he used seven real-scale DeLorean units and models. In some shots this is noticeable, because the DeLorean Motor Company logo is oversized, and neither the white lights nor the lights come on.

The sound you hear in the movie is not from a DeLorean, but from a Porsche 928.

On a promising chassis in Lotus and synthetic monocoque body and Giugiaro giving the shape of gull wings. That is why Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox suffer in some sequences of opening and keeping the doors open.

In 'Back to the Future III', in which Doc Marty travels west, a buggy disguised as a DeLorean was used.

You already know a little more about this car and the movie that I starred in, I have really enjoyed writing and I hope you read it.

Another great write up. I love the DeLorean, we had a DeLorean time machine in our shopping centre last year. Please keep up with the entertaining posts. Oh, I need to pass on a message to all posters (myself included) When we find pictures on the internet and use them in our posts, we need to mention where you get the photo from (link). I am sure @planetauto will mention this too. I usually use Wiki Commons, and filter them.

Have a great week :)

Matt

It is normal, I have also read that the first two units were found in a farm, and I think they will put it up for auction, I don't want to think how far it can go
