VW has a slogan 'Think small' or 'Think small (simple)'.
40 years later this ad was awarded the best advertising campaign of the 20th century.
1969
Type 1 officially changed its name to the Beetle, and in that year also the VW Beetle became a movie star.
The film is titled Herbie Love The Bug, with the model used is a 1963 VW Beetle racing style with number 53.
And in 2018, the car in the film sold at auction for $128,700.
1971
This year, Volkswagen introduced a premium model known as the Super Beetle.
This car has a new front suspension and larger dimensions.
One year after the Beetle No. 15,007,034 beat the Ford Model T as the world's best-selling car.
