Monterey Car Week

Every year the Monterey Peninsula is host to the biggest car show in America, which is dubbed Monterey Car Week. All week long there are special events, for all different kinds of cars. Whatever your dream car is, you will find it here. They even have an event for lemons, Concours d'LeMons. It is such a cool time to be in the area. Unfortnaly I had to work all week, and missed out on all the excitement. But I did make it down on the very last day, and still saw some very special cars. So come, and take a walk with me:)

We live in Salinas, which is about a 20-30 min drive to Monterey. I figured we could not go wrong to head to Old Fisherman's Wharf. Even if we missed out on seeing any cool cars, we could always take a walk, and get some clam chowder. However we lucked out. Sotheby's still had the cars from the auction that is held every year at car week. This auction is a pretty big deal, and some of the most expensive cars in the world are sold at this event. Not so sure if the cars we saw sold, or where the ones that did not sale. None the less, they where a site to see!

Some like this Mercedes where in plastic. Still did not hide the the uniqueness of this car. What a paint job!

This grey car is a Ferrari! I have never seen this particular model before, and this one was one of my most favorites out of the bunch in the whole lot. I wonder if the engine is in the front on this one?

Want to take up Formula Racing? Oh and don't mind that Rolls Royce photo bomb!

Pure power!

Would this be considered an outdoorsman model?

This is what you have to put up with when you miss the main event. If only the wind was blowing a little harder this day, ;)

An old school racer. Only people with handle bar mustaches need to apply:)

We kept walking towards downtown, and as soon as we got near the parking structure we heard an engine reeving, and saw a crowd of people. As we got closer it came apparent why.

Then to my right a bad ass Porsche!

This is just a very common site to see during car week, and to think most cars have either left town, or where at the main event in Pebble Beach, Concours d'Elegance.

Then right outside we saw a beautiful big rig. I mean this thing is just as bad ass as those cars we saw before right?

Now the big question what the heck is this thing hauling?

Finally some rare specimens we can get to see up close, and personal! When looking for the auction info online, I actually came across these particular ones about to be loaded up into the trailer. 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet A by Sindelfingen.

Look at the dash! Just amazing. Oh, and this one sold for 1,875,000 USD or 3,472,222 Hive.

1939 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Cabriolet A by Sindelfingen

I did not get much pics of this one, since the black one really caught my attention. Kind of beating myself up over it. Oh well.

Another find automobile, and this one sold for $1,765,000 USD or 3,268,518 Hive.

Then this was the other car being loaded up onto the trailer. No info on this one, the Mercedes where the highlights of the auction, or rather among the highlights. After this we then headed towards the sound of barking Sea Lions, which can be viewed in this post here. Then we headed out of town, and stopped to get a bite to eat.

And in the parking lot of the fast food restaurant where 2 rare supercars! The Mclaren f1. I love these cars!

They even made this Ferrari look a little bland. Not really, but almost lol

But the MVP of the day, was a delicious In N Out Double Double! Thanks for reading, and hopefully next year I will get to attend an actual even, and get some more pics of some cool cars. Thanks for reading.:)
