Nope, not an M3. There's no vent on the front quarter panel.
Another way of checking is doing an MOT lookup.

I have a diesel as my commuting car and I'm not a fan of them, I think they're a lot more harmful than we were lead to believe.
I also have an M5 so I'm slightly biased towards petrol engines.
