And if they want to join Mexico, they have every natural right to secede. Hawaiians also have every right to declare independence. The rest of California has every right to break away from SoCal and form 2, 3, or more states.
There is nothing sacred about nation-states, and truth be told, I advocate secession to the individual level. Coerced association is uncivilized.
