Buteo using a tree as a watchtower

On my several wildlife trips to the Inn River this year I was able to take a lot of pictures of different birds, but since I often shood pictures of birds flying I am always happy when I see a bird sitting somewhere where I can get some pictures of the perching bird. And this time I was able to take these pictures of the buteo perching on a branch of a tree near an open field where it was probably hunting for mice.

I was happy that I saw this bird up there on the tree because since it was not really moving it was not so easy to spot eventhoug its "white" color somehow sticks out.

Sort:

some of the bird shots look very impressive.

Thanks, sad that it was a little bit far away.

Great photos. Hmm ... but indeed, for some reason he is white. Maybe leukism, or maybe it's just some kind another subspecies of buzzard, I don't know.

maybe just a white morphe. Buteos or Buzzards can hav a lot of different colors on their feathers. But usually it is more brownish.
