Explore the cursed tombs of elite Egyptian warriors called Mejai in Forewarned from Dreambyte Games. You and up to 3 other archeologists will plumb the depths of each temple in search of clues to see if the legends hold true. Are there really immortal beings trapped here or is it nothing but fairytales? Use the many tools at your disposal along with the research left behind by those who came before you to unravel the mystery and hopefully escape with your life once you do!

First up let me say that multiplayer horror PC/VR hybrid games are something I've been seeing more and more of lately and I am totally on board! It means I can happily sit and play on my PC while my husband is happily swatting away behind me on VR and we are still playing the game together. Forewarned is one of these games and it does it really well. Connecting with other players, privately or publicly, is easy-peasy and thus far I haven’t encountered any audio complications either. Forewarned has even gone as far to give you in-game voice chat so you won’t need Discord or anything like that also running in the background.

Gameplay-wise everything seems ship shape as well despite being in Early Access. All the tools are easy to use and finding clues is as easy as turning on one of your devices and waiting a few minutes. I really like that Forewarned makes discovering whichever entity is thirsting for your blood only half the battle with the addition of puzzles to solve, rooms to unlock, and even boss-like stages where you have to perform a ritual to banish said bloodthirsty being into oblivion.

The idea behind Forewarned is a solid one there’s no doubt about that, but in its current early access state it’s also where it falls flat. We’ve been teased with this super fun concept and we want to play it endlessly, but the variety to make this a reality just isn’t there…yet. Right now most of the maps look very similar. Even to the point of being detrimental to the gameplay. Trying to scour the map for switches and canopic jars can seem fruitless if you can’t tell if you’ve already searched the area yet or if you’re just running in circles. This is to be expected of a game still in development though and for a good spooky horror scenario like this I can be patient.

All things considered I don’t have a lot of legitimate complaints. Sure there’s plenty that still needs polishing but nothing game breaking and nothing I don’t suspect the devs already have on the docket for future updates.
