The Boom of Sportcards
The sportcard market has seen been through a crazy price boom ever since COVID-19 kept us all trapped insinde. People were bored, had nothing to spent their hard earned money on, and many got back into sportcards again. A combination of nostalgia, a lot of retail investors, and famous SoMe users promoting sportcards, created a massive hype. Somehow the hype hasn't died down, in fact it has become even more crazy the last couple of weeks. Here are some examples of the crazy prices people are buying cards for:
2013-14 National Treasures Giannis Antetokounmpo Logoman Autograph: $1,857,300.
2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Mike Trout Superfractor Autograph: $3.9 million.
1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 10: $5.2 million
The boom has been crazy. Just like crypto, out of nowhere it has created many millionaires. Not only has the market increased prices on the very scarce and big cards, but also the rest of the sport card market has increased. I started getting investing in sportcards in May last year, and I'm glad I did. In the coming post I will show you why.
