GREETINGS COMMUNITY
This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Emilio Bacardí museum and I made a first publication about all the works of art I found here I leave you the link of the 1st part
This is a museum that gathers almost the entire history of our country from the arrival of the Indians and colonizers to the triumph of the Revolution.
This model shows the migration of the Indians to Cuba through the Bering Strait.
The first aboriginal community in Cuba were hunters, fishermen and gatherers. Here we can observe the shells and carracoles that they collected to make ornaments with the shells, they made their first instruments, crude, rustic and rudimentary, like the stone axe and the shell knives. And they already began to introduce their beliefs and religious practices through rites and the making of idols.
The last and most advanced community is farmers ceramists, they used a buren to elaborate the cassava, garments that they used to decorate themselves.
Spanish colonization process in Cuba, but specifically in Santiago de Cuba the one dressed in red is Diego Velazque and in front of him is Hernan Cortes where they are swearing allegiance to Spain.
Santiago Apostle was tradition to make a prosection in the months of July throughout the historic center of the city of Santiago de Cuba accompanied by soldiers.
Uniform worn by Spanish soldiers at that time.
In the midst of this colonization process, several indigenous people manifested themselves, among them Hatuey and Guama. And in this painting titled "The torture of Hatuey", where the moment in which he was burned alive is represented.
After this community was extinguished, since they were not used to forced labor, such as mining, where they searched for gold, agriculture and they were also infected with diseases so it was necessary to bring strong labor, and they brought black slaves from Africa.
These were instruments of torture used to make them work, and if they rebelled they were taken to the stocks or to the pillory where one of their limbs and even their heads were cut off, in the middle of a public square as an exemplary measure, but there were so many punishments daily that the street began to be called a butcher's shop and it still bears the name to this day.
I really enjoyed this visit to the museum because I learned new things and remembered others, besides seeing the paintings, instruments of punishment and all that this meant in our ancestors was a unique experience where I reunion with my history.
