I just love your projects. I'm looking forward to the 'real deal' from the posts!
It's always nice to clean up a fire pit. There are a couple around that friends and I use routinely when camping and about every other time I'm there somebody has cleaned the fire pit. Rules around here is you have to have a shovel if you are going to have a fire so it's pretty easy to take a scoop or two before you start.
Happy birthday to your fishing partner! I'm sure he'll have a great day!
Thanks Tom! I appreciate it! It's going to be a fun day, he's having a friend come over that we haven't seen since Christmas. She's a year older than he is but he's going to be a little handful, he told us the other day out of the blue he wants to see her "because she's my friend and she's beautiful" we were like oh god it starts?
I love doing these little projects and this time my wife is the one who came up with the idea so it was nice that she proposed it and we were able to let the little man help us.
The fire pit absolutely needs a deep shovel out. Hell maybe a little excavation lol. We took a bunch of the trash out of it like beer cans, broken bottles and the like. It’s been several years since it was used so when we first saw it it was completely overgrown with all kinds of weeds and stuff. A massive colony of carpenter ants had also moved in and it was a bit intense when I moved a big piece of wood in there and was greeted with about 500 ants scurrying around!
That tree right there is where the fire pit is now lol it’s come a long way, the backyard! That oak tree was a bitch to take out! Our son loved it though because he got to use a few shovels and dig the hell out of the area lol
I think every tree on earth is a bitch to take out. Unless you want to keep it and it blows over or something :)
That's a really gorgeous setting there. Looks to me like a really good place to spend some time.
Well, it's good that your son has a friend over for his birthday. The fact that she's beautiful might be a hint of things to come...
