Hello everyone, how's your weekend? I hope you are doing great. It's me again chimegipamus sharing with you our winning moment on playing basketball. I hope you will enjoy reading this blog.
I have mentioned in my previous blogs about training and equipping some youths in our community to play basketball. We have played a lot of games already and we always lose. Some of our players are gone due to our standing and maybe they are ashamed that we always lose.
We were at the bottom of all the teams but my husband did not give up, still he encouraged everyone to play. It's not for the win but for the learning. The remaining players reached only six people including my husband since some did not play and departed the group.
Warm ups
One of our youth visited and brought her classmates who happened to be basketball players so we invited them to be part of the team, then my sister's husband had some nieces and was invited to play with the team also.
Last Sunday particularly January 21, 2024, all the players met together at the court for a game. We had a scheduled game and we were amazed by the players. My husband called them for a warm-up and while doing it some of the teams looked at us and were amazed how our players changed. From the previous teens to the more mature and good ones. From 5'2 in height now 5'6 to 5'9 tall.

From the remaining six players we reach fifteen players. We are very convinced that this game will be a winning game for us. After an hour of waiting the first game was over. It's our turn to play now. The opponents just bring some of their players because they all know that Ecology Lights our team are just underdogs. But time and chance were given to us.
Play time
The game started and from the beginning of the game, we are already leading in scores. The opponents are trying to beat us, they are good players too. They have good teamwork even if they are just a few, if we are timid or complacent we will lose. So some of our players are on standby and those who play are the best ones.
Taking the lead
After an hour of playing for four quarters, we have our first win with the scores 63-66 three-point lead only. It was not an easy game but thanks to God He allowed us this time.
We cheered loudly together with some of the players. Smiles all over the place. The players have their sportsmanship handshake and take pictures together with them. We went to the bakery to have some snacks before going home.

The evening was finished bringing happiness for the first time. This time the teams gained confidence and were encouraged to play and give their best for the next week's game.
We departed the place and brought home all the players. What a wonderful weekend experience.

Lessons learned from this blog is don't give up on all things, there are losing moments in our life but God has prepared someone or something to help you achieve winning moments. If others back out just move forward and pursue the goal, time and a chance will happen, and when it comes at the right time such joy will be received.
