Hi everyone, welcome to my blog.
We all have different life experiences at one point or another, but irrespective of the things that happen to us, sometimes we can only learn the lessons and move on so that such experience will not repeat themselves.
Sometime this year in February I got a call from a woman whom I had just met not too long ago for the fact that she was also into decorations, and I said I was a decorator and anytime I had a job in school, I rented things from her.
So she had my contacts, and I had hersas well, and by the time she saw my work from some of the jobs I did, which I posted on my status on WhatsApp, she reached out to me about a job she had in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, and then we agreed on an amount.
The job was slated for Saturday, and to have a proper setup, we needed a star walk by Friday, and moving from the city of Abeokuta, we had to start arranging things by Thursday evening, and so I went to her shop so that we could get the things for the job loaded in the van, which was to take us from Abeokuta to Lagos.
And this was done to enable the vehicle to move very early in the morning so we could make sure that we were at the venue before 8 a.m. the next morning, which was Friday. Unknown to me, she had some other stuff that she had rented from other vendors, and she wanted us to pick it up at a location, and this wasn't part of our plan and initial agreement.

However, I had to join her stuff to pick up the things (decoration accessories) at a location that was about 6 km from our school area. By the time we had finished packing the decoration items in her shop, it was already 7pm, and then we moved to the other location to pick up the decoration items.
By the time we arrived, I found out that the things we had put in the van had to be offloaded to enable us to put in the items we were collecting now, and by the time we were through, it was 11pm already.
Then she called, asking me to just stay with the driver and move to Lagos the next morning. This request was so impossible because I had just finished cooking dinner before I set out that evening and because I wasn't even ready for work with my tools. I politely rejected the request.
On my way back home, since it was late already, it was relatively difficult to get a cab that was going my direction, so I found the bike, which took me directly to my hostel, but on our way we got stopped by police officers.
I was delayed for about an hour and 30 minutes; this led to my getting home at about 1 a.m. on Friday morning. I had to wake my friend with a phone call to help me out with the gate, and as soon as I got inside, I ate my dinner in the morning of the next day.
This lady, being aware of everything that happened, still called by 4:00 a.m. for me to join a vehicle. I told her I wasn't going to because it was too early and I wasn't going to get a ride at that time, so I waited till about 5:30 a.m. before I set out, and then we finally got to Lagos.
During the job, contrary to our initial agreement, she didn't give us the food she was supposed to, and by the time she was asked, she said she bought it and that if she gave us food, we would become lazy. This was her explanation, and at some point that Friday evening, I had to go out in the rain to get something to eat because I had not eaten since morning.
By the time the job was over, we were joining back to Abeokuta, which lasted till about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night, and by the time we arrived, the driver decided that he was taking the luggage to his house because we couldn't access the area where the woman's shop was located.
By Sunday afternoon I got a call from this same woman while I was at a work location telling me to come and join her staff to offload, and I politely rejected because Sunday wasn't part of our bargain. Besides, I was working at a location and couldn't leave that work, which I explained to her.
At the end of the day she subtracted 3000 naira from the initial amount she was supposed to pay, and this was my worst weekend as an event decorator, and since then I have never worked with that woman again.
Thank you for stopping by.
