[Week 118] weekend shared with a military veteran...

1.jpg

The weekend is here and I find myself alone and bored.
I am sitting here on the furniture thinking: that my husband would be alive if he had not gone to war.
Oh how I miss him!

I have nothing to do this weekend because my friends went on an outing.
I couldn't go this time because financially I didn't have the money to go out and enjoy a weekend.
My daughter and I have more important things to spend. School time is coming soon and it's time to make an important expense for the start of classes.

for the start of school.
It's Saturday and I set up the pool for my daughter so she can enjoy a fun morning and not feel as bored as I do.

I sit looking at the horizon of my street and I see an older man dressed in military fatigues walking towards my house.
Oh my God, what happened to that man coming here?
I anxiously await his arrival....
Hello good morning lady!
I need your help.
I am a military man and I am too old to continue practicing.
Your late husband told me that I could come here whenever I wanted because he knew that you would receive me...

My late husband asked in amazement ????
Yes. We were very good friends.
And how can I believe in you if I don't know you?

Well, you will have to believe in me, because how can you believe that your husband died in the war and before that he gave me the address of your home.
He asked me to come when I felt that I could no longer continue, I am a veteran who needs rest, order, tranquility and peace.
He told me that here I could find that and much more. Because you are a great woman.

I could only say THANK YOU, HE WAS ALWAYS RIGHT! Why argue with him....

I turn around and tell him:
The tent he used for his work stuff and isolation is still intact in the back yard, you can use it and use everything inside.
Maybe you will give it all the use he couldn't give you.

The very grateful man every morning would stop and sit down to PRAY and give THANKS, for his life, for his health, for the company he now had and that he no longer felt so lonely.

I listened silently from afar as he thanked my late husband for having left him the address of his home because otherwise he would be wandering from hotel to hotel with no fixed destination.
It seemed tender to me how someone with so much pain and rudeness inside could dedicate himself to that every morning.

YOU HAVE TO SEE THAT APPEARANCES CAN BE DECEIVING!

After doing his daily routine as a good military man he would call me to have coffee and talk together:

Honestly, our conversations are always very historical.
I learned about history, art, the culture of different cities, gastronomy and even how were the war camps where they participated for many years....

I have learned many things and also we can talk about my late husband without any problem, it is as if my husband's soul was in this military man who now lives with me, adapting to the quiet life, to share from time to time with my friends who also love him.
It is incredible that even the housework is now lighter because he helped me to arrange the hand washer, the scrubber and even some paintings that had fallen down because of an earthquake that we lived a couple of months ago....
He is really amazing, (Sigh) as much as my husband....

A few months passed and the military was still in my house, living in my backyard in that well conditioned tent that I kept outside for more than 3 years.... Even my daughter didn't work in it because it was like a sacred place.

Every day he would bring fresh fruit, mow the lawn, play with the little girl and so the days went by.
Now he comes in and out like "Pedro for his house" with a very active routine, we still have coffee every morning, we go out dancing, take the girl to school and we live very good adventures together...

One day I sat down and asked myself: why did you choose to leave the military veteran and decide to make a story with him?
I just said: If my husband left him the address of our home, which no one knew but him. It was because he had prepared our future as he always told us.

Life always fills you with good people, all of them come with a purpose in life.

Today I can truly say that this military veteran came into my life to teach me and give me a new opportunity to move forward.

END!
