Weekends are supposed to be time for rest and enjoy but one weekend still stay fresh in my head as the worst. It happen last year. I had plan to travel to Lagos on Friday after work to visit my cousin. I was so excited because it was long time I see him and we had already plan plenty fun for the weekend.
Everything start well, I got to the park early, bus left on time. But just about one hour into the journey, rain start falling heavy. The driver try to move but road was bad. Suddenly the bus spoil right in the middle of express. We were stuck there under rain, some people even start arguing with the driver. My phone battery was almost dead, no way to call my cousin.
After two hours another bus came to carry some of us but it was already dark. Lagos traffic that night was something else, I sat in that small bus wet and cold, my bag also soak. By the time I reach his place it was almost 1am. Power was out, no light, no food. All the plan for Saturday was scatter because I wake up sick with fever.
That weekend taught me something. No matter how you plan, life can still do its own. Also always carry small power bank and extra cloth because you don’t know what can happen on the road. My cousin still joke about it till today, he call it “the weekend that die.”
Why it was my worst weekend? Because everything go wrong. The stress, the rain, the sickness, the disappointment all join together. It was supposed to be fun but end up as suffering. Still I thank God because it could have been worse. At least I reach safe even if the weekend spoil.
