From left to right: Belly, Spartacus, Devil Dog and Piggy
Cats make my skin crawl. I can’t be doing with them at all and a litter box in the house is not for this germaphobe, Sure I won’t even have a house plant for fear it would attract crawlies. Besides, cats serve no purpose and in my ordered little universe everything must serve a purpose or it’s straight in the bin. And don't give me the 'they catch mice' line. My chickens are far better mousers than any cat.
I can tolerate dogs, I have 4 of them, a situation not of my choosing. They have their own room with outside access in an extension at the end of the house, but the rest of the building is out of bounds. At one stage I had 18 dogs after 2 strays we rescued produced 14 puppies between them.

No, I didn’t drown them. I’m no Cruella De Vil. I love animals, at a distance, and haven’t eaten one in 40 years. I’m more your Howard Hughes type, though I don’t store my urine in mason jars. I like things clean and orderly. In fact, I insist upon it.
Just as I insist upon eggs for breakfast. Boiled, fried or scrambled, I love them all, and I've got the chickens to prove it!

Along with my daily eggs I have nutritional yeast, sea salt, Irish Sea Moss, a pile of greens fresh from the garden, and in Summer lashings of basil pesto.

"Go to work on an egg" was an advertising slogan for the UK’s Egg Marketing Board when I was a kid in the 1960s, a masterly double entendre that left me with not only a lifelong love of eggs but with a fascination for words and wordplay.
Perhaps that’s why when it comes to films, it’s the dialogue rather than the subject matter that interests me. I’m open to most genres as long as the dialogue is amusing, apart from horror films that is. I haven’t watched a horror film since 1967 when at 4 years old I inadvertently viewed The Masque of the Red Death.
If truth be told, and it always is here, though I used to be a regular cinemagoer, I haven't been to the pictures in at least ten years. There's too much wokeism in films these days. It seems it's impossible to get funding unless all of your characters are homosexual dwarfs in mixed-race relationships. Even Snow White has to be black. The Brothers Grimm must be turning in their graves.

Posted in response to galenkp's weekend experience prompt asking you 'Cats or dogs, which do you prefer and why?'
Your favourite breakfast food. Show us what it is and tell us why you love it.
Horror, comedy or romance movies, Which do you prefer and why?'
I was just looking at your pictures again (it's a slow Saturday) :). You have the most gorgeous chickens.
There's a theory that dog's often look like their owners. Perhaps the same goes for chickens so it's no wonder they're gorgeous!:)
😇😁
I grew up in a time when everyone kept their private stuff private for the most part and we intentionally kept our noses out of other people's business. That's probably what confuses me about the woke stuff the most; why would we talk about half the stuff that people have decided to talk about in the first place?
I find modern times tacky and tiresome. I wish for everyone to do whatever they please and leave me out of it... I think that's probably why I'm a cat person myself, dogs need too much attention in my experience. I do like them as well though 🤷♀
Yer breakfast looks rad and your post made me smile, as always.
'Tacky and tiresome', not only spot-on but alliterative too! Take me back to the 1970s when our sexuality did not define us, nor did we feel the need to be PROUD of it. Your doings are no concern of mine unless you make them so.
Oh yes, please!

Indeed.
Wrapped it all up in one tidy post. Nice work.
Thank you m'dear. Not only neat and tidy but posted a whole day before the deadline! I must say I am very impressed.
Every day in every way I'm getting better and better:)
I noticed your punctuality and was indeed impressed with your magnificence. The brilliance of your brilliantness knows no bounds.
Yet another thing we agree upon!
Great minds think alike.
Also, I think you make it into the favourites every week, or have only missed being included a week here or there. Seems like you are consistently brilliant.
Awww, those puppies are beautiful! Gosh, your dog's name made me laugh—"Devil Dog," haha! I've always wanted chickens here for eggs, they're so useful to have, but there are lots of foxes around.
By the way, @deirdyweirdy, I'm going on holiday, would you please look after my two kitties? They’re not so bad! They’ll just jump on your bed early in the morning, lick your nose and eyes to wake you up, and ask for cuddles. Haha! 💗
Just box them up and send them over. My dogs love cats!:)
🤣
Cats makes my skin crawl too and I’ve never been close to one and don’t wish to either 😂
Am somewhat afraid of dogs, went to my friends house some days ago and she has three dogs..oh my God. I was literally walking on egg shells around them. They wants to play with me and lick me up but am too scared to indulge 🤣
Your dogs are beautiful and I love the chickens 😂
I love both cats and dogs. Got 3 cats and 2 dogs, most rescued. I don't think I could pick.
I will agree though that they are not the best at catching mice, not mine anyhow, I have some in my truck and they are not easy to get rid of. I've tried a humane trap, but the crafty buggers jammed the door open so they could keep the door open and eat the food. I am slightly impressed, less so when they keep me awake at night. Thinking I might need a snake lol.
I agree also about the pictures, jasus it's a bit much really, all inclusive to fuck is what I say. xxx
My hens are fantastic mousers and my two Jack Russel-type hounds are even better. But you have much cleverer mice than I do. Jamming the door open....they almost deserve to live.
I didn’t know chicken repel mice! How does that work? They don’t eat them, or do they?
That breakfast looks divine!
The chickens chase the little blighters, corner them and eat them.
That breakfast is divine!
Cool name. For a dog as well.
I'm one of the coolest people I know!:)
Modern movies are not really good either way, like marvels have become trash for example woke or not...
But where is the proud rooster there??
The hens have him locked up in the shed!:)
Haha poor boy, eventual death by snu snu 🤣
I had to Google 'snu snu'. I don't get out much!:)
Haha yea stuff from '80 generations 🤣
I love your unvarnished honesty.
We all have the right to live by our own rules at home...
And we agree completely about eggs... and certain aspects of the Brothers Grimm.
You have a future in the Diplomatic Service:)
:))
I hope that's a compliment. Lol
Enjoy your Sunday @deirdyweirdy
Why of course it is m'dear. I spread sweetness and light where'er I go!:)
😆😂😂😂
😅
You covered all three prompts? Nobody does this contest better...
I'm with you on the horror films. The last one I ever watched was the Exorcist. Why would I want to feel the way those movies make me feel? I do not understand that, but then again, given how easily people were convinced to be deathly afraid of the common cold not long ago, and many of us still are, I suppose I should. We've been conditioned to find the state of abject fear normal.
I've never seen the exorcist but of course I know all about it. When it was released here in 1974 it was censored and several scenes were removed. I remember stories in the newspapers at the time about ambulances parked outside cinemas to deal with all the fainting patrons. I have no idea why anyone would want to watch something terrifying. There's nowt so queer as folk!
I understand what you mean about cats - but for some it is comforting to have them around. I use to have both when I was young but now I have neither- we enjoy them at a distance due to allergies etc.
I hear you about today’s society. I feel as though it’s a fad and will die down like every thing else. I am looking forward to that.
I just hope the fad dies before I do!:)
18 dogs at once is a very full house. I like the way you keep things tidy, my place would be a mess with that many pups running around. Eggs for breakfast every day is the best. Nice one
I had 8 weeks of hell on earth, but they were such adorable little fellas that but even before they were weaned The Dogs Trust had arranged homes for all of them. Chickens are so much more useful.
Yes, the dogs are very adorable !LUV !WINE
Thank you kindly! I was about to throw a strop because nobody mentioned my gorgeous puppies.

@thehivetuber, sorry! You need more $LUV to use this command.
