What have I worked hard for and finally achieved? I would say brilliance, but modesty forbids, so instead I will claim contentedness. I am satisfied with what I have; I neither want nor need anything more, nor anything else.
It has taken me almost a lifetime to attain this quietly glorious state and not because I was ever particularly acquisitive. In fact, I’ve always believed that the more you own, the less you live. But I used to see contentment as something to strive for rather than something I could simply choose. Lately, I’ve reached an awareness that tribulation, rather than demanding to be overcome, can simply be accepted. The problem is not the problem, it's my attitude that is the problem.
I once thought the world was essentially benign, spoiled for the rest of us by a few who had lost their moral compass. Now I suspect everything is more or less as it’s meant to be. Man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward, and resistance is futile.
So, my dear reader, as long as I can afford to dine on mince and slices of quince, fly business class, and sojourn in a swanky hotel, I reckon I can live the rest of my life in utter bliss, no longer trying to fix what isn’t broken.
The only question that remains is whether there is anything for which I’ve toiled but ultimately failed to achieve. I will admit that though I have spent countless years attempting to subdue my misanthropy, I have failed even to moderate it. With the exception of yourself, dear reader, I am surrounded by clowns, fools, and idiots.
And isn’t being stupid much like being dead? When you’re dead, you don’t know you’re dead — all the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you’re stupid.

Please excuse any formatting errors. I normally post through Hiveblog but it's not uploading photos.
Honest to goodness, so much of this post resonates. What wankers we were in our youth to believe it otherwise.
Sometimes I'd give anything to be stupid, so I didn't walk around being veritably annoyed by all the idiots I encounter on a daily basis. Either that or a plague to reduce the population so that I don't encounter as many people.
Mind you, I'm sure they think the same of me.
Travelling to and from Mexico these past weeks, I saw so much stupidity so as to make me believe I'm a genius:)
😂 Oh do tell, I'm sure you have some hilariously dry stories stored.
Regret to say that 'what happens on tour, stays on tour'. I couldn't even begin to relate the sort of hijinks @owasco got up to:)
haha I'm so daringly creative. Yup. That's me!
This may be one of your best. Disguised as casual wit, you are dropping pearls of wisdom left and right.
Yes!!!!
I am floored, convinced once and for all that you are truly brilliant.
It's taken you some time, but I was sure you'd get there in the end!:)
Choosing contentment over brilliance feels far more profound. That realization that acceptance can replace constant striving is something many people take a lifetime to understand.
Exactly. You've said in 26 words what it took me 357 to express.:)
I can say you have achieved brilliance though, I have seen that glorious shine.
Hahaha. Just make sure you spread the word!
I actually did use the word "brilliant* to describe you and robbieretard in my last post.
Oh I know. I read that sentence over many times:)
Misanthropy is probably the highest the highest form of wealth in the sense that a penny saved is a penny earned... If you know what I mean
And if not, then just hello- it's nice to come back here and read something from you 🤠
Yes, I'm still here keeping the lights on. Good to see you!
Better late than never.
Too many questions!
I don't have any answers anymore either.
Eat the cake :)
I've pretty much failed to achieve everything! But you are correct. People (sometimes)
You stay you.
Came to check in ...
I don't think there are any answers or if there are, we don't know the questions.
I'll just keep ridin' the train until it derails:)
:D
And then get back on again!
Happy Monday, D <3
Previous comments already said it all. Great post. This is my favorite line:
Thank you, thank you. I think there are some realisations that only come with age.
Empty head, light heart, we say here regarding the stupids
Here we say 'empty vessels make the most noise!'
