Though we rarely venture beyond the compound, today we planned a little outing, a walk around one of the two dairy farms that supply us with raw milk. The weather however had other ideas. Storm Amy is raging with 90 km/h winds, though it's dry and sunny.
We've had yellow, orange, and red warnings for wind and rain...not much good if you're colour-blind...so the event has been cancelled. It's just as well since the wind has flattened one of the walls of our chicken enclosure.

As I sit in my magic dome, the temperature a balmy 29C, I can observe from a safe distance Laurel and Hardy's valiant attempts to prop up the fence with planks and concrete blocks. Not my area of expertise. At times like this, it’s rather nice to be a little old lady, not expected to deal with anything involving power tools.

The walk was to cost a fiver. Add another for the delicious mocha from the farm shop and my total spend for the day’s entertainment would have been ten euro. Of course, the four-hour round trip would likely have set us back thirty quid in petrol, not to mention the old carbon footprint.
Sure amn't I single-handedly warming, cooling changing the climate one farm walk at a time!

I can’t exactly recall the worst weekend I ever had. I tend to erase such tragedies from memory. But I vaguely remember that it had something to do with magic mushrooms, monsters, and locking myself in the bathroom, refusing to come out until Tuesday.
It was the first and last time I ever touched a mushroom.

prompt asking ' What are you doing, or have you done, this weekend.
What was your worst weekend experience and why?
What would you do this weekend if your entire spending budget was $10 and you had to spend it on entertainment?

Did the chickens get hurt?
I'm not sure that arrangement is safe around the chickens...😇
I seem to have acquired something of a reputation around these parts as a chicken killer. Let me assure you that no chickens were hurt, but my brother required 5 sticking plasters before repairs were complete.
I know you'd rather suck on a rock than kill one of your chickens.
You, and your brothers...
After such a chaotic childhood, you all came together, to support each other now.
Except for a few weeks, there was never a time when I didn't live with family. Mother, sister, child, grandchild. Maybe it has something to do with the chaos of childhood, but family and supporting family: that's my anchor in life. I think, in a way you and your brothers have arrived at the same place. Maybe I'm wrong...
I think you're right. Only my family truly understands what’s moulded me into such a curmudgeonly, misanthropic misfit :)
Oh god there's nothing worse that a bad trip. Last time I had them I had major anxiety and stroked a possum skin for hours. It wasn't attached to a possum thank god. It was the only bad shroom trip I have ever had but made me realise it probably wasn't a good idea to keep taking them.
Do you drink the raw milk? I don't even like milk so it's a mystery to me. I probably would make paneer from it though as I like that.
We use the milk for coffee, four cups a day. That's about 38 litres a month and it's difficult to get. We have to buy it in bulk and freeze it.
When I was young I'd drop anything down my neck for the buzz. Only as I got older I started thinking about the consequences.
Yeah people can rubbish us for only caring about what we put in our bodies NOW compared to our errant youth but that's the way it is or was with our gens.
When it's very windy it's so annoying, any chicken escaped?
The fix is quite funny though 🤣 not sure how long it can last
I dunno. I reckon it might last longer than me!:)
Sometimes canceled plans turn out to be a blessing in disguise! Your humor about the situation made me smile, and it’s nice how you still found a way to enjoy the day despite the weather.
Whenever people complain about weeds in their garden, or weeds by the roadside (at least the long ones that aren't a fire hazard) - I ask them if they have considered the fact that those weeds also offset carbon too - and are probably more efficient at doing it, too - owing to their propensity to grow fucking everywhere.
If I gave the impression that I subscribe to the idea that carbon dioxide is heating the planet, I must apologise. It was meant as sarcasm. Personally, I’m of the view that climate, like everything else, moves in cycles, and that we’re heading into a cooling phase rather than a warming one.
Not a worry, the fact that plants (including weeds) capture carbon, all the same, still holds. :) I am nowhere near smart enough to know for sure - all I know is that whatever happens to our beautiful little rock in the universe, I will not be around to deal with the worst of it in a few billion years when the sun runs out of fuel and goes boom.
I hope we cool, I hate the heat. :)
I'm not all that smart myself, I just listen to what TPTB say and believe the opposite:)
I hope we heat. I hate the cold.
Ditto!
Your carbon footprint for the day has been recorded somewhere.
Bloody hell! The hounds are closing in and nowhere to run. We're doomed.
It does seem that way. I didn't thenk so until I saw that video. He's good. Very good.
😮
It is not necessary that we get a good experience every time and some such experience that we get is a lesson for us for the future and then the effort is that we will not do that thing again in our life.
