This is a topic i can relate to very well in the sense that I've seen a lot of weird items in my life.
I remember seeing a very huge statue of the virgin mary in my aunt's home, it was placed in the center of their living room and when i curiously asked what purpose it served my aunt said that it protected her family from evil and made them prosperous.
I also remember going to a friends house for a visit only for me to meet the entire family eating what seemed to be a house rat and sure enough it was a rat, i was shocked because i have never seen anyone eat a rat before, they offered me some but i gently refused.
I have seen a lot of strange stuff but perhaps the weirdest and strangest stuff i have seen was when i went for an agricultural training two years ago in a remote location.
The venue of the training was literally in the middle of an eerie looking forest in a village, the buildings was a newly built university.
The first thing i noticed was a strange looking structure in the middle of the university, it looked out of place and when i asked one of the officials what it was, he said that it was a shrine that was placed there by the villagers to protect the new university.
He also mentioned that the shrine was a thief magnet and anybody whose intention was to steal from the school would be caught immediately.
I waved it off as mere supasticious beliefs and all i could look forward to was the agricultural training i was to receive.
The training lasted for two weeks and in those two weeks i was able to go to a farm and an instructor taught us some basic farming methods.
The training went well and i had already forgotten about the shrine (though it was still there) but on the eve of my final day there something amazing happened.
I was in my room discussing with some of my roommates when a loud scream pierced the night, everybody rushed to the scene and to my greatest shock, a man who was stuck to a generator.
The man was a stranger who had wanted to steal the generator while everybody was inside but unfortunately he did not succeed.
His hand was stuck in the engine of the generator and since it was night we had to wait till morning to set him free, it was a truly strange occurance and i immediately remembered what the official had told me and it sent cold shivers down my spine.
The strange looking shrine seemed to have caught the thief and even though I had a wonderful time during the training, the strange looking item which somehow caught a thief was the highlight of the day.
That's some freaky shit right there. I must fry a rat sometime.
