Am glad you definitely turned out okay...and you are definitely your own hero
As much as I am appreciative of my own parents (who were deeply involved and wonderful), I sometimes believe that a little tough love might have better prepared myself and my siblings for the harsh realities of life especially in my younger years.
That said, we all turned out okay ...lol
You're lucky to have good parents. I used to envy children whose parents were affectionate towards them. Neither of our parents ever touched us.
