It was a bright weekend on a Saturday morning when two "love birds" whom i have known right from my undergraduate days in the University decided to take their love to another level by tying the knot and walking down the aisle. It was indeed memorable as i was privileged to be among the grooms men in local native attire.
I had to travel down to witness the ceremony and it was a joyous moment seeing old friends, colleagues and associates from different parts of the country attending alongside. We were lodged in the same accomodation a day before (Friday) which affords us the privilege of gisting together and sharing relevant ideas togethers and experiences.
The wedding ceremony is a one day event with two sides to it; the first been the traditional wedding and the other been the Holy Matrimony in Church. We the grooms men adorn ourselves in our uniform native attires with matching caps and the bride's friends adorned themselves in their own matching native attires aswell. Following the tradition here, we joined the groom in various activities and supported him as we should. Various gift items were presented and the bride's family joyfully welcomed us and gave us a warm and cheering reception.
After the traditional wedding which is for about 2 hours, we proceeded immediately to the Church where the holy matrimony was held and it was a glorious one where the beauty of marriage, family and home was appreciated. Thereafter, we proceeded to the reception hall which was beautiful decorated where the wining and dining was held with various delicacies both local and foreign was served based on individual's choice.
There was moment of toast and dancing aswell by the couple as the life band played.
In appreciation of our contributions and honouring them with our presence, the couple presented us both groom's men and bride's ladies gifts which are well packaged. Truly, we need each other at one point or the other and that life is not designed to be lived in isolation. I got to know the groom as a good senior colleague and hostel mates attending the same Christian fellowship in school back then with the wife.
Therefore, it's good to be good and to treat people well because it's all a seed with the reward coming sooner or later. Also, it's good to invest in quality relationships because it has its own advantage aswell because life is about relationships and influence (i mean the postive one).
