It was finally #theweekend when my aunt can be off work and my sister purposely planned it such that she can join us for a small birthday celebration for my nephew's 2nd birthday.
This is an extended family gathering with my dad and mum together with a cousin and my mum's youngest sister, the aunt we are closest with.
My sister got these Cocomelon t-shirts for the boys, including my boys. Quickly took a photo with the boys and my sister before they make noise whenever we want to take photos later.
Of course there was eating and food. In fact, LOTS OF food! We had 14 dishes for just some adults and young children! Oh my gosh!!!!!
Let me show you the birthday cake which was Cocomelon themed. This was a fresh cream cake and the price was really cheap at less than USD25 for such a featured cake!
Here is birthday boy with his cake. He tried blowing the candle but this time he failed so he got a little frustrated.
He was still excited to cut his cake.
Photos first with my parents, his grandparents before he loses his patience. We know that we should not over expect a toddler to have all the patience to take photos with us so we quickly seize opportunity whenever it arises.
My aunt's place is actually a space just enough for her alone so for us to all cramp there, we need extra help espexially to entertain the children. I brought some finger paint for thw youngest son.
He enjoyed his cousin's birthday cake alot. He ate a whole slice by himself before eating another bowl of rice with some dishes. Don't worry the green colour on his mouth was actually edible green colouring from the cousin's Cocomelon cake. It tasted quite good.
Now let me show you the crazy spread of 12 dishes my aunt cooked singlehandedly. It was insane amount of protein!
This is braised pork leg.
Stir fried some vegetables which I have no idea what vegetable this was.
Braised pork innards like intestines and stomach.
Brocolli with abalone.
Steamed prawns, lots of them!
Her own homemade seafood tofu which was quite elaborate to make. She minced the tofu and then she minced the other seafood like fish and prawn before combined them together. Then she steamed them up and then cooled them down before chilling them in the fridge. Wow! She said it was easy to make, I almost faintedupon hearing the steps. So dedicated!
Homemade spring rolls. Also similar to the seafood tofu, but this was wrapped in a beancurd skin and it is a mixture of minced pork and minced fish.
She did a salted chicken as well as a steamed chicken. Oh my gosh!
My mum ordered this mango duck from a nearby restaurant. I love the taste of this Mango duck a lot. It is served in like a little cup with a mango slice slit within the duck piece. Yummy and refreshing! Mango and ducks do go well hand in hand!
There were some more other dishes like fish lip soup and all but I didn't take all of the photos because I was juggling between eating and taking care of the boys.
Thankfully, manged to take a photo of the great cook and the birthday boy who was getting sleepy.
At 1pm, my sister had to take her son home for his nap so true enough we did not manage to take a big family photo. So I took with whoever was left hahah.
Before we left, my aunt served me with this drink. A very refreshing canned drink, Sundrop lime!
Here is my proud mummy moment of my eldest helping his brother to wear his sandals when we were leaving.
Visiting the Iconic Cat Statue as Kuching Landmark
We did not go straight home because I thought I want to have a photo with the iconic cat statue in Kuching. Kuching which is my hometown has the same sound as the malay word for cat kuching hence that is how we get the name city of cats.
After we reached, we realized the workers were repainting the cat statue to get it ready for Hari Raya as they will always dress it up according to occasions.
When I was young, my dad brought me to take photo with this cat.
Now I brought my family here to have a photo with it too! But the sun was a bit glaring so my sons had some hard time opening their eyes for a nice photo. It is fine.
Upon reaching home, the boys still have leftover energy to burn some more. So bubble play it was again in my dad's garden. We make full use of the space that we do not have back in our own home.
I think this marks a great weekend! How is yours coming along? Hope you are having a good one too! Happy weekend everyone!
