An Afternoon Date With Myself

There’s something strangely liberating about taking yourself out on a date. For the longest time, I used to associate going out alone with a sense of loneliness, as if being by myself instantly meant I had no one else to share the moment with. But as I grow older, I’ve realized that solitude isn’t tantamount to loneliness—it’s a soft, quiet space where you can simply breathe, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.

This afternoon, I decided to give myself that space. I went to J.Co Café and treated myself to their signature honey-glazed donut paired with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. It was a simple combination, but somehow it felt like a warm hug after a long week. I settled into my seat and allowed myself to just be. No rush, no expectations, no need to perform or entertain—just me, my thoughts, and the gentle hum of the café around me.

I spent the next few hours reading, observing people passing by, and journaling whatever ideas came to mind. It was refreshing to let my thoughts flow without needing to filter them for anyone else. There’s a certain clarity that comes when you’re completely comfortable in your own company. I noticed things I usually overlook—the way sunlight falls on a wooden table, the soft clinking of cups, the way strangers share smiles without knowing each other’s names.

As the afternoon slowly slipped into early evening, I decided to treat myself a little more and headed to a nearby Japanese restaurant for dinner. The warm, savory meal felt like a reward for simply taking time for myself. I ate slowly, savoring each bite, grateful for the peace that wrapped around me.

It was an afternoon well spent—simple, quiet, and incredibly nourishing. Taking yourself out on a date isn’t about filling time; it’s about honoring it. It’s about embracing your own presence and realizing that your company is enough. And today, mine absolutely was.

That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!

Sending some love and light

With love, Jane

I haven’t tried this restaurant but I heard food here are also delicious. I hope you enjoyed your day!

Thank youu,likewise :)

Adulthood really brings new perspectives to us. Sometimes it would even dispel the myth we have told to ourselves on the past younger years. Just like telling ourselves that it is an alone situation when we only do things with ourselves but later on, we will understand that the ability to be with ourselves is an underrated skill and essential one. In alone times, we can find ourselves. Put thoughts clearly and give meaning to what is needed. We find ourselves more in a place and time when and where we do not need to perform. No rush. I am happy you chose to choose yourself first on that day. May you be blessed in life.❤️

Thank youu! Having an alone time is not so bad after all, in fact, I enjoyed it so much. Or maybe it would also depend on a person. Some people prefer to always be with friends than to be alone. And that's okay too.
