Grab a book.... Learn basic survival skills in the bush, living off the land many varieties of flora exist with a host of uses here in Africa depending on region.
Knowledge conquers all, knowing which plants to eat, medicinal use from tree bark, to leaves or roots. You will find toothpaste, soaps from sap so no excuse on the hygiene front. There are plants to combat snake bites as well....
Elephant dung which is undigested makes great fire for cooking on without creating possibility of runaway fires in the bush, got a headache breath dung smoke in, knowing me I would smoke it. Plaiting grass into snares to catch meaty treats or make a spear from sturdy branch, give the animals a fair run for the hide.
Yup in the bush we can fend for ourselves, or learn how to. Any emergency situation humans could take your possessions, who knows how long you have to remain outdoors #survivestayalive 😉
Overhang/cave would make a good place for sheltering in, large leaves strategically placed to capture morning dew into clay pot (which you would have to make), hollow out an African Squash (Calabash) for drinking bottle (eat the flesh, plant the seed for future), or as @papilloncharity said steal an ostrich egg, use the egg (approximately 30 domestic hens egg in size), rinse and use make a plug with some grass.
Modern featured elements to make life a little easier if you really stuck would be a sizeable panga and lighter to get you started and that book of knowledge! .... OK all said tongue in cheek!

All depends on where you live, people here do know a lot about living off the land, a knowledge handed down through the ages we have forgotten.
So if I cook my steak over elephant dung, will that give it a rich smokey shit flavor..?

It sounds like a solid book like that would make a world of difference in those scenarios! Make some other random things so people try to steal those but keep the real treasure, the book on how to do it all.
Smoking dung huh? That sounds like a crazy experience lol but then again they make psylicibin (magic mushrooms) from mushrooms that grow off cow poop so it's not that bad lol
Only one book on what is edible to reference back to if needed.
Living off the land could have some unique experiences, sure we could make it though....
