Last November 18, 2023, typhoon "Kabayan" entered the area of responsibility here in the Philippines specifically in Cebu. Despite the weather, this never stops us from our planned outings with family and friends. We were invited to a birthday party somewhere in Dalaguete. However, I had second thoughts about not pursuing this plan because the weather wasn't in my favor. But we also think about the happiness of our children since they're excited already.
As we embarked, the gloomy weather had been a week of witnessing us crossing muddy roads. But this time, we have to leave and do this weekend escape from typhoon "kabayan".
So in this blog, come and join me as I share with you our experiences in travelling to Dalaguete's beach.
The typhoon had already landed in the northern part of Cebu which was exactly our place and yet a better idea also to escape. We left home by 6 in the morning so we could gather with others by the time allotted to us.
We took the road via Tabuelan and would come out from Aloguinsan which was connected to Carcar and then straight to Dalaguete. As we passed by those municipalities, I felt yearning thoughts of our home that may happen since we're away. I just have high hopes and pray that there's no damage by the time we come home since we have to stay for two days and one night.
Heavy rains, strong winds, and dark skies were encountered during our travel. Taking slow all the way was all we had to do for us to be safe. When we passed by Toledo, vendors along the coastal road and sea were still displaying their vegetables. It's not a usual day yet they're taking their lives at risk. However, at the end of the day, it's their choice.
My eyes were lured only to this blissful plaza of Sibonga. Along the road was the century-old balete tree beautifully captured while heading to our destination. The plaza has attracted most of the people to rest and children to play but not this time.
We arrived safely in Dalaguete and explored the place where we had to sleep. I was not able to take photos since my children already wanted to go to the beach. We had to walk 500 meters or more before we reached the beach.
Dalaguete Park Place🌊
Dalaguete Park Place has an exquisite, neat, and accommodating space for people as well as our vehicles. It has cottages worth 600 pesos or 10.67 dollars. The palm trees were well-maintained like they had to get old coconuts and other parts that might get old to protect the beachgoers.
It's still early yet some of the beachgoers were already enjoying the beach. The Talisay tree has been a shade to some, so we have chosen a table only worth 400 pesos or 7.11 dollars to save.

It's low tide and still gloomy that's why it's not so good to capture however, the experience of coming here wasn't that easy so, we took a moment of happiness that at least paid off those challenges.
The beach is made of rocks. I admit that it's hurting me when I walk down here. I couldn't find a perfect angle to capture the whole area so, I went up the hilly side of the beach which was made of anapog or limestone.
Along the beach, if you can see, growing moss was evident and it's slid. That's why some of the beachgoers including me had nearly bumped my butt unto it's mossy glide.
They have available kayaks, life vests, floaters, and others. They have a specific price each.
My husband and friends rented the kayak with life vests. They're only four on the kayak and should not exceed five. They also have limitations on where to stop and should go back. For an hour is 300 pesos or 5.34 dollars. It's worth the price since they have learned how to puddle now. Hehe.
This was a beautiful escape from the disaster. However, in real life (not in this situation) we have to face the challenges we might encounter and face them with fierce and accept whatever happens. And just like the rock, be as sturdy and resilient when problems get even harder.
When we were heading back home, we bought some snacks from Carcar (home of the best chicharon). And that made our day extra special even though we were just in the vehicle the whole time.

I remembered not Typhoon Kabayan but Yolanda madam, how it struck our place. But anyway, I loved your escape. Ninduta sa beach! I'm pretty sure you all had a good time.
