Before an advice should be implemented, one must analyze it to see if it's really valid, check the possible outcome, and determine how the advice will make any impact before taking action. Jumping into action after being given advice without proper evaluation can backfire into something disastrous, and you might live with regret for the rest of your life.
Advice is good, and most times I seek advice from people who I think are more experienced than me. Right from my singlehood and now as a parent, I still seek advice when necessary. I have received quality advice that has helped me a lot in my parenting; in fact, the recent one I got two weeks ago, I sat down to reflect on it, analyze it, and see the reasons from the one who gave the advice. I then implemented it, and the results have been positive so far.
However, I received the worst advice from a close friend of mine four years ago. We lived on an estate with her. We met during one of my antenatal visits, and we became friends. She could visit me almost daily, and I do visit her as well. We got along to the point of sharing marriage talks. She was so open to me about how her husband treats her like a queen, as she claimed. Then one day, she was in bitter tears. She complained about how her husband had become an infidel man, and so she found a native doctor who did a charm for her to have power over her husband. She told me about this after she went to visit the native doctor, and according to her, ever since the visit, she has been the woman in control of her husband. She has the power to control his movements, his spending, and most importantly, how carelessly he spends money on her. She went further to advise me on doing the same, as she claimed that it was what most ladies in our estate do in order to be in charge of their marriages. Did I really take this advice?Well, I didn't bother to think deeply about it. It's a bad move capable of breaking my home. I told her that there are ways to handle an infidel man and also a man who you think has the money but does not spend it on you as a wife. I already envisioned the huge implications of such advice and declined it immediately.
In conclusion, some advice is good, but some don't even need to be processed before being rejected. Each piece of advice given must be properly analyzed to avoid regret. This is my entry to the #weekend-engagent topic ideas initiated by @galenkp

Husband and wife both need to trust each other to lead a happy life. If someone wants to cheat then no one can stop him. Doesn't matter how many restrictions there are. I believe that you did the right thing otherwise who knows what would happen next.
