At this point, I just want to exhaust all my cave adventures in Camotes Island and start with another travel series. Been busy with work in the last few weeks so I was only able to post old poems to commemorate our country's annual month-long celebration of our national language, Filipino. The cave we're going to quickly explore today is the second to the last if I got the numbers right. Let's keep going!
It was a fine Sunday afternoon and our 2nd day at Camotes Island. We've had a fun-filled day so far and we're down to the last cave we had on our list that day. After visiting Heaven Cave, Amazing Island Cave and Paraiso Cave, we wasted no time and drove our way to Timubo Cave.
Timubo Cave just like the rest of the caves we visited is accessible via a small opening in the ground. But for Timubo Cave, it required going down a bit deeper, which something that I despise. The deeper we go, the scarier it becomes.
At first, I didn't really like the vibe of Timubo. Maybe I was too tired that day, too! Imagine exploring three caves prior to Timubo Cave; I was honestly exhausted. I didn't tell my boyfriend that I was tired but it showed when I only took a few photos. In fact, I didn't bring my phone with me, I just borrowed my boyfriend's phone and took the photos you are seeing.
The path toward the main chamber and the pool was dark, slippery, and cold. There's also a part where the path was too narrow. When we arrived in the main chambers, I was disappointed to see that the main chamber had low ceiling and the area surrounding the pool area smelled like urine. Taking into account all these things made Timubo Cave the least of my favorites.
But before I stop here and leaving you with unfavorable review of Timubo, it'll be unfair not to mention the great side of the cave. If there's one thing that made Timubo a bit memorable, it's its cave pool. The natural pool was long and deep with the usual clean and clear azur blue/ultramarine blue water. Since it was deep enough for swimming, I definitely enjoyed my time swimming here.
We had some refreshments (fresh coconut) right after our visit in Timubo and went to our next and last destination of the day, Tulong Diot Island. Which I'll share some other time!

Oh my it was super beautiful inside. It looks like a virgin Island. Is it cold there?
It was a bit cold at first @grecyg, but it's nothing major that will stop you from enjoying the pool.
This is amazing, nature is awesome, I mean... An underwater pool is something I haven't really seen. I thought the color of the water was somehow enhanced with editing software, but that's a beautiful color there. Wow. You live for adventures.
Hi @josediccus! One island alone has more than five of these caves with underground pools; it's amazing to live in my Province as I have easy access to both beaches and mountains.
You are right, I used Lightroom to edit the photos but no major editing really so I can promise that you'll see the same beautiful water when you see this in person!
Adventures make my world go round hehe Hope you're doing just fine these days! 😁
Nice shots, I have always wanted to go to Camotes Island but haven't got the time yet.
I think the urine like smell came from the bats. 😅 We also have a natural pool cave somewhat like this in my hometown - Guiuan.
I didn't think of this haha I'm guessing it's from the tourists who are very lazy to go the CR (near the entrance) haha
We actually tried to visit this last month, it's the one near Calicoan beach/ABCD surf camp, right? It was closed tho huhu
Yep that one - Linao Cave. I went home a few weeks ago and the place is still close. Sayang. Hope the next time you visit Guiuan it's open to public na ulit and also check out Handig Beach in Homonhon and Suluan Island if you haven't been there pa.
We also went to Homonhon (Handig) but Suluan was too far for us na huhu I'll contact you if ever we're back there! It was difficult to find boat/tour that will take us to the islands.
Sure thing, if ever I'm in Guiuan the next time you visit, I can hook you up with the locals for the boat and accomodation. My Grandmother was from Suluan.
I'm working in the city and only go home occasionally. But I'm just so happy that our place is getting known and being discovered by more tourist now. This will really help the economy of my hometown.
Thank you for visiting Guiuan. Safe travels on your next adventure and hope to bump to you in the road some time soon. 😊 Cheers!
By city, you mean here in Cebu City? Or Tacloban? I'm currently in Cebu. We might have a coffee date with @explorewithsasha soon, please do join nya. 🤗
Cebu City yey! What a small world. Yes please, coffee date with ate @explorewithsasha soon ❤️
Wow, this place is amazing! Thanks for sharing such a wondrous location that many will never be lucky enough to experience.
It's my pleasure to take you to my country's gems, @daltono! I'm not even a huge fan of caves but it can't be helped once you are inside the caves of Camotes Island in Cebu.

Thank you, you too… enjoy your day further!
Beautiful natural pool with crisp water.❤️ The cave could be infested by bats and the urine smell could be from bat urine that has an ammonia-type smell.
hala i know i have been there but i already forgot how it looked.. mga year 2010 pa to guro ba..
this is a wonderful place👍👍 you are so beautiful in the water😊😍
