RE: Weekend-engagement topic week 50: The natural world

in Weekend Experiences4 years ago

Saw I accidentaly wrote my reply to the post as a reply to someone else's story... (must be getting slower because it's weekend! So here my real try!
What a great topic and I am seeing beautiful pictures here!
I've decided to share this picture from a trip I did two years ago to Oman. I hardly knew anything of Oman and assumed it was pretty deserty and maybe therefore not so interesting. Boy was I wrong! My partner got a temporary job there and I decided to visit him. I can definitely recommend everyone to go, what a beautiful country that holds a surprising amount of water, caves, canyons, mountains and lovely people as well.

This picture was taken on Jebel Shams, also knows as the Grand Canyon of Oman and it has a great climbing route going up! Hope to go there again when travel is back on the menu!

Whoa - those are some serious canyons and mountains. So, rugged and really beautiful in its own way.

I've spent time in places like this, not quite alone, but at times alone, and they can be wondrous places to connect with oneself, I guess through the lack of anything else to stimulate ones mind - No pretty lakes, waterfalls, forests etc. You know? It's devoid of that, and so has a beauty all of its own.

Exactly! You'd feel so very, very small and humble, right? Just looking at those ridges, I'm like - whoa - nature is amazing and I am just one small, little human, trying to make do, you know?
I feel like this a lot of times when I look at nature's wonders. Or, for that matter, even at men's creations, they can (!) be pretty awesome, too.
I guess it is a case of know your place in the (food) chain, but be open to options, possibilities, and wonders - I love it all.

p.s. some of this may or may not be fueled by a recent dry martini - LOL - it is Saturday night here - I hope you're having a good weekend!

I couldn't say it better myself, unless I had a massive martini twice the size of yours in that gif. Lol.

Sadly I don't think that I'd be able to say anything remotely coherent after a martini THAT size, but I'm sure I'd enjoy it nonetheless. Martinis are wonderful creations.

Lol, yeah but it would be funny seeing you try!

Bwahaha - maybe... but quite likely you'll never find out 😁😇

Oh really? I actually hadn't noticed but thanks for dropping it again - Scenery like this must be seen more than once. :)
