Can I put on the list gin? I know it's alcohol, but I can't tell you how many nights after a horrible work day having a good gin on club soda is so delicious. It has to be the good stuff though; those rubbing alcohols mixed up with pine cones just don't cut it.
Maybe a better term for my favorite invention is just the art and craft of distillation?
I haven't had gin in 30 years. But there was a time that I just loved a Gin Rickey or a w/tonic in the right company. I actually still drink some tonic sans gin for cramp relief.

I think many would concur that 'gin is in!' as long as we can have whisky, vodka, beer, wine and all of the other wonderful beverages that sometimes guide us gently into a relaxed state especially as you say, after a tough day at work.

I too certainly concur gin should be high on the list. Interestingly I found myself with no gin recently as we are clearing house and experimented with Jaegermeister and tonic now don't rush to judge......it was superb. Trust me really damned good.Surprised I was, drunk I did get. Refreshing it was

It is a magical feeling when we think we don't have a mixer in the house and them boom we suddenly have an awesome new 'go to' tipple. That does sound a strange concoction but damn, if I'm not dying to try it now haha

Gin is legit a good invention and is experiencing a strong revival here with many people trying new things.

Ah a nice gin is a fun thing to relax with, though I'm not a gin drinker myself I do enjoy a nice Bombay and tonic here and there to mix things up.

Alcohol in general. I'm sober now since 2014 (I don't count weed nor should anyone else) but back in my drinking days, oh man!!! I had LOW standards!

That is awesome - working at a brewery and being lost in the culture, I am envious of your discipline. Those big drinking days, honestly, aren't worth it (this is coming from a Sconnie, where it's an 8 day week of events if you choose to, btw)

Now that you ask, not really I guess. I've touched on the subject a few times but there's a lot more dark than light on that one. I've actually made a note to remind myself to write about the last time I drank, August 2, 2014, you know it's bad when the date's etched in your mind. But it's just a note, I haven't brought myself to tell that one yet cuz it's pretty bad.

I actually impressed myself with the ability to continually lower the bar. I'd come to, get horrified at where/with whom I had awoken and swear that I'd never get that bad again.
Couple of weeks later I'd inevitably prove myself a liar and lower the bar again.
Brother I've said "is my truck here?" Because all I saw was the reflection of blonde hair in the mirror. No idea how I got there. I somehow managed to lower the bar with each purchase of a bottle.
