Among the given topics, the power to erase memories managed to catch the attention most and got me thinking, what would I do, if I had the power to erase memories of anyone on the planet, alive or dead. Now, the range of erasing memories was not defined in the prompt, so I am gonna assume the erasable frequency is dynamic and I got to choose what to erase. I could make them completely forget who they are or choose to erase a very specific memory. So, now the question is, who will I choose and why.
Hitlar
The first thing that popped into mind is, Hitlar. Now we are all familiar with this infamous historical figure. He did manage to brand his name in history by being a complete power hungry, mastermind dictator and the cause of millions of deaths. Now, with him I would choose to erase all of his memories in the middle of world war II, just after the west decided to declare war on Germany.
Just imagine, in the moment of crisis, when the Germans were in dear need for their leaders’ guidance, out of nowhere suddenly, our infamous Hitlar completely forgot who he was and what he was doing. What kind of chaos would’ve taken place then? Would the German accept defeat instantly or would some other ruthless and more cunning man step up to take the vacant throne. Intriguing possibilities, unpredictable outcomes and a complete chaos, yeah I would very much like to read that history of mankind.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Like Hitlar, we are also familiar with the nuclear explosion that was performed in Japan. Explosions that pretty much ended the last world war. The day humans discovered how deadly and terrifying the future world war could become.
Now, if I had the power, I would’ve changed this particular history a little bit. Instead of successfully unleashing the nuke on targeted places, the people who were responsible to complete the mission, right before dropping the boom, would completely forget what they were meant to do, which would’ve caused a nuke explosion in space.
If that would’ve happened, then no one would've died and instead of a tragic outcome of war, the incident would’ve become an international amusement and failure. Yes, the crew of the missions would’ve died but history never really cared much about the dead, they would’ve turned it into a core source of Americas’ failure and gave birth to a new political drama. I could only imagine what the front page titles of that time's newspapers would’ve printed. A complete mockery and amusements for the world to see and for us to read.
Of course the course of history would’ve changed a bit with it too, a possible outcome that none of us can successfully predict. But yeah, I would’ve done that if I got the power.
Now, the prompt says choose three people, but I might’ve used it on more than that, but once you have a cool power like this, it's hard to control the use cases.
