Pranked an Unintended Audience

I rarely do any pranks now, and before I do, I would think first about what I would feel if it were the other party that did the prank to me. In that way, I can tell if I am still doing a prank or just being a nuisance. But during my younger years, I was quite mischievous with my pranks, not really thinking about what the consequences of those actions were, as long as we could get some laughs out of it, and in doing so, I had made pranks that were out of line. Anyway, the story that I want to share was not one of those, but it certainly is close.

This story goes back to when I was still in college. Supposed to be, it was just another regular school day for me and my classmates. We study, make jokes during the break, and go home afterwards, except one member of our group was missing. At first, we thought that he was just a little bit late, so we asked him where he was, and right away, he responded that he was still on the way. Turns out it was a prank, cause he later sent an image of himself still at home. Adding salt to the wound, our professor also did not show up, making our attendance pretty much wasted since that professor holds two of our major subjects, and the next subject after that was a minor one. So, while we are infuriated with how we were not informed about our professor's absence, that classmate of ours is laughing his lungs out and keeps on teasing us while we are preparing to go home. But then, a sudden idea came to me, and convinced my friends to go along with it, so that we could get back to him.

The idea was simple. First, we download his picture on each of our phones. After that, we take a groupie with a sad face, holding our phones in front, with his picture on it. Then, on the next picture, we combined our phones together to have a bigger picture of him with the "We love You" phrase above, while we made it into a position that looks like we are mourning.

Alone, this will just make for a good laugh for us if we only send this to him, and it would not be very much of a prank; however, we decided to post it online and tag his social media account, telling him to get well soon. As a result, people close to him got to see it too, and out of concern, they immediately contacted that friend of ours to know what happened to him and if he is alright. So, the real prank took place when we shared the pictures on social media, and the real victim is not our friend, but the people close to him, which is not our intention. Though the first image should have given them a clue that it was just a joke, with one of us unable to contain his smile.

For us, it was just a mindless prank, but for the people who did not know it, it was a serious source of concern for them. Thankfully, our friend was able to swiftly calm them down right away, but I'll bet that they were really pissed at us after knowing that it was just a prank and comes into question if those people will believe us in case that the real thing happened. Should teach us a good lesson to think things through before doing them, right? Not really, because we keep on doing mindless pranks until we graduate, some of which have even landed my friends in the guidance office, and most of the time, that friend of ours is usually the instigator.

That was it for this post. Thank you, and see you at the next one.

This is too much for a prank.🥺
Mourning? Hell No🤣🤣🤣

Yeah... For those who were given the right context, they will find it funny, but for those uninformed, they can take it as a serious concern.

Hmm
You're right
